Is Pac really a true power puncher?

Yeah, he can hit alright. But the way Mosley talked about it it's the technique and unexpected arrival that gets you. Speed and technique. Look at what he did to Margarito's face (unlucky not to get the stoppage there really) but on the other hand, look at the way Mosley put the hurt on him for the stoppage.

Pacquiao hit the CHRIST out of Margarito. Multiple flush punches landed in combination over and over again. But he never put him in the trouble Mosley did.

I think Mosley is a puncher at welterweight, probably, but I wouldn't rank him with the absolute elite - and I think it's pretty clear that Mosley is a harder puncher at welterweight than Manny.

I definitely agree that Mosley is a better power puncher than Manny at 47, and I think the Margo fight is an excellent illustration of such. But I think it's a matter of degree. Using Cotto as a reference gives us a different look, maybe.

I think the way he had Bradley rocked over and over was significant. But Ruslan took him down twice.

Also, dropping Algieri 4-6 times was impressive. Algieri is no great fighter, but he is very tough and resilient. Ruslan only dropped him once.

He was beating JMM like a red-headed stepchild in KTFO6. But Bradley nearly put JMM down at 147, so the fact he's a blown-up lightweight might have a lot to do with it.

Rios is a tank. He just doesn't go down.

Margarito is known for that concrete chin. Mosley beat him up worse, but Mosley was a legit 154lb fighter and confirmed steroid cheat. And Pac arguably should have gotten the stoppage. It was so bad that he clearly stopped trying to hurt him.

    Clottey is unstoppable.

Cotto is a bit fragile, so that stoppage was predictable.

The Hatton KO was ridiculous, but Floyd also had a highlight KO over him.

Zewski was ****d by the Russian dude last night, he suffered a very lopsided 10 round decision loss, he looked terrible and he caught him with a few shots that had no impact whatsoever.

    Zewski is a myth.

And Pacman is extremely unlikely to be able to test May's whiskers either.

The problem for me is that Mosley never "unleashed" on Mosley. Pacquiao hits everyone. Like, he hit Margarito way, way more than Mosley. I mean he's hitting guys loads with lots of hard punches and he's not stopping these guys.

So, for me, it's a negative.

Doesn't mean he can't make you absolutely miserable with power punches. I just think that - for Manny's power to become a factor tonight, he'd need to land a ****load of punches.

Pacquiao is a power puncher at his natural weight of 135-140 lbs. It's when he gets in the ring with guys who weigh 154-160 lbs that he doesn't have the power.

You guys talkin' about "Sugar Shane" or "Sugar-Free Shane?"

And (I really dont know the answer to this) was Shane tested before the Margarito fight? I know he was before the Mayweather fight but I was wondering at what point is there confirmation that he became a clean fighter?

I've never seen rios so reluctant to let his hands go as he was against pacquaio. Chaves is supposedly a good puncher and rios was happy to take some to give some with him. I know mannys speed played a big part in that but id still say he has good power at the weight. I don't think Pacs recent string of opponents have ever been stopped that often between them aswell.

yes he is. he just pushed his limit beyond 140 that the bigger guys can take it. you can observe power punchers style of fighting which are very aggressive compared to weak punchers who are very defensive and win fights by scoring points.

He used to be a destroyer but he hasn't been the last few years with the bigger guys he's faced. He's not a one shot KO guy now but he still carries good power and if he can get some combinations in he is going to hurt whoever it is.

If pacquiao can't punch, why did floyd want him to wear pillows instead of his usual puncher's ?
