Is Pacquaio just too small for De La Hoya?

Yeah, he is stepping up from 135 to 147. IN the end, I don't think his power will have nas much effect on De La Hoya as he and his team are hoping and I certainly can't see him outboxing Oscar. Bad match-up for Manny.

To the question: NO. Size will always be a factor, but it's an issue that has been overcome countless times over time. Pacquiao is the best fighter in the world. Oscar is a great fighter who is well past his 2000ish best, and hasn't made 147 since 2002 (?). Oscar certainly has the advantage, but it's not too much to overcome.

 

Of course he is, that doesn't mean it's all over for him of course, he still has a very good chance and we still needs to see how he will look at the weight. People just think of Pacquiao as the 135 version when they think of this fight and immediately assume he's getting knocked out, wait till we see how he looks as a welterweight then we can decide, if he looks WAY smaller than DLH then I won't be surprised if even more will pick DLH by KO.

 

Nope, and lemme give you an example:

Barbados Demon Joe Walcott.

Guy was 5 foot 1 and knocking out guys who were well over 6 feet and 200 pounds... I'd say Manny could beat him, but I also am aware that he's no Barbados Demon either, who punched with HEAVYWEIGHT power despite his height and swarmed all over his opponents.

Anyway as for the weight issue. Yes, IMO Pac is just too small. I get goosebumps whenever I imagine DLH hitting Pac flush with that patented left hook of his! *shudders*

Nah.. he's not too small. He's a better fighter at this stage in their careers, and I think he's gonna surprise and beat an overconfident DLH.

Look at the size difference between Duran and Iran Barkley, when Duran was way past his prime, fighting at middle weight and Barkley was just huge and towered above him. I'm not saying Pac is the equal to Duran, but Duran was way past his prime and managed to win in an awesome fight.
