The most embarrassing loss in boxing history? I can’t think of any other highly rated fighter that lost to such an average fighter who no one outside of Australia had ever even heard of.
Not if you actually understand boxing and watched the fight properly. The only embarrassing things were the awful officiating, poor judging and disgraceful illegal tactics employed by Horn.
If you think he lost that fight then you dont know what the **** youre talking about and shouldnt be taken serious by anyone. That was a clear robbery.
It was certainly a razor close fight. To say it's absurd to score it either way is the only wrong score that shows your head is in the sand. Pac got mauled to defeat. Didn't even really try to do anything about it. It is embarrassing for an ATG to lose to someone on that level but it has happened many times in history to that top tier of 25 or so ATGs.
It was a close fight. Horn won. Happens. Pac is shot. And he got lucky that Thurman came back for the paycheck and gifted him a W.
Sometimes I do wonder why people have to ask these kinds of questions regarding Pac, as if other ATGs have never lost to lower tier fighters before in past. Was Duran's loss to Kirkland Laing embarrassing? Was JMM's loss to Freddie Norwood embarrassing? Was Arguello's loss to Vilomar Fernandez embarrassing? Was Chavez's loss to Frankie Randall embarrassing? Was Napoles' loss to Billy Backus embarrassing? Was Terry Norris' loss to Simon Brown embarrassing?
Well, Duran lost to Laing and Chavez lost (pretty much whitewashed) against Willy Wise. I don't think many knew who Laing or Wise were at the time (Wise was coming from 3 straight losses). Neither Chavez nor Duran were at their prime anymore by the time those fights happened, but Duran especially had a long run afterwards, with several significative wins. And those were legit losses, not a very arguable decision with the referee allowing all sorts of foul play from Horn without docking points.
Had it as a close fight. Pac fought through two terrible head butts. Robberies exist. It happens. Pac went to Australia to defend his belt. That in itself is pretty amazing. Who the hell goes to the opponent’s country to defend their belt?
As did the other fighters that I've mentioned. Laing for example. Those fighters never amount to much despite having wins over those ATGs.
This is the type of poster who counts this clear robbery as a loss to Pac but then says Marquez never lost to Pac he selects who wins fights and what fights are robberies based on his feelings for a fighter. Typical fanboy.
Can't forget the most famous embarrassing loss of all. Surely that has to be more embarrassing than Pac "losing" to Horn. This content is protected
Please. Why would anyone hate on Pac? Action fighter who always wants to entertain the fans. Never ducked anyone. Doesn't talk trash. Doesn't fight dirty. Is the nicest, most generous, sincere, and giving man in boxing according to almost every single account from boxers, trainers, and media men. Accessible to the fans during his training camps (spends hours meeting and greeting). Like I said, racism.
Why would one make a thread like this about an ATG? To what purpose? Do you think you are bigging up some other fighter by diminishing Pacquiao? Why not just make a thread praising the guy you like? What do you hope to gain here?
