Hmm not really. He did improve from the first to the second meeting.

Since then he hasnt been in with a great counterpuncher like JMM. He has good wins but nothing ala JMM.

Only a 3rd fight would settle it.

Definitley a more multi demensional and dynamic fighter now. JMM has a lot to do with Manny becoming the great he is today. His wars with JMM gave Manny the kind of experience he needed to propel his way towards the very top of the sport.

You quoted me wrong. I don't think much of him defensively, either. He has very good offensive reflexes, similar to Barrera and Morales. He gives back well once he's taken a hit, but while he isn't exactly poor defensively, he gets hit a lot more than necessary at times. Despite his textbook approach, he still has that Mexican warrior in him that leads to a bit too many defensive openings that could've been avoided. Chavez for example was better defensively, despite the fact that he was even more of an offense-oriented fighter. Marquez is very lacking in the head movement department by comparison, and doesn't pary as well.

pac has evolved much since JMM2.. he becomes more patient and his footwork is getting much better.. his combinations are becoming better and better.. try to watch again PAC-JMM2, youll see pacquiao getting outboxed because he attacks carelessly and rely on his power but when he calms down and box jmm, he is getting points.

i know you don't think much of him defensively which is what you're wrong about. Marquez although a slow starter is very good at figuring an opponent out and once he does that he can parry extremely well as well as use distance to avoid his opponent's offense. He is an extremely good defensive fighter once he gets a feel for his opponent and he can make his opponents not only completely miss but also pay dearly. He is particularly good at parrying straight shots up the middle and unless you catch him in the middle of one of his combinations you don't have much of a chance of catching him at all with a one of those..

I've seen his fights, a lot of them, and all of his high-profile ones. I don't think I'm wrong. Again, I didn't say he was bad defensively, just not top notch by any means. No fighter with such stagnant head movement can be considered as such. His parrying skills are what he relies on, usually for countering opportunities off of single shots. However, that leaves him open a lot more often in close range exchanges, where parrying is the least effective tool defensively. However, his offensive firepower is usually enough to get him out of many of those situations.

of course. Manny was still one handed then but was still effective. He's gotten better by adding the right hand to his arsenal esp. the right hook, His speed which he didn't lose much, is overwhelming his opponents at higher weights. Because he is fighting at his ideal weight class, he generates more power and his punches has gotten more pop.

Pacquiao has definitely improved since the 1st JMM fight, but the second? If he has, only slightly. The bottom line is, JMM has Pacquiao's number. Pacquiao will probably always have a rough time with him.

  13. He's definitely fighting a smarter fight these days, but that's probably due to the fact that he's facing guys who can actually hurt him with punches.

I think his punch accuracy has improved tremendously, though.

He has a right hand that can go lead or as counter.
He moves lateral better than before.
He goes under punches better than before.

He is stronger (not weight drained like at 126).

"inferior" opponents? So Cotto , Clottey Hatton and DLH are inferior oppoents. The hell you smoking man. Now people are calling JMM - Pac a mismatch, what a ****ing surprise.

He's obviously vastly improved since JMM. I know this just by watching him fight and the things he does in the ring. He uses his right hand WAY better now, he's got a better defense, he's got way, way better footwork, way better counterpunching ability. Better combination puncher now too. He's 10x better. Pac was still more-or-less a one-handed fighter when he fought JMM in the second fight.
