Well gentlemen, since Pac is now officially retired and his boxing career is in the history books, let's officially consider this question. Pac is no doubt a HOFer. But I'd argue he had 3 separate HOF careers. 1. Under 135. 4 weight champ. KOed lineal Flyweight champ as malnourished teenager. Draw against peak Marquez. Close 7-5 loss against near prime Morales. Devastating KO against prime or near prime MAB which is not only the best performance of the era, but one of the greatest in ring displays ever authored by any fighter in boxing history. If his career ended after Morales I he would not just be HOF, but ATG. 2. David Diaz to Margarito. 4 weight champ. Almost killed Ricky Hatton at 140. One of the top performances of the era against a still prime Miguel Cotto. 3. Post Margarito. Authored a HOF career even while in decline. 3 time Welterweight Champ. Over a dozen defenses. Including defenses against Bradley and Thurman. The weakest HOF career of the 3, but still HOF. Most active lucky fighters are lucky to have 1 HOF career. I think Usyk has already authored a HOF career at 200 pounds. Now hes writing a second HOF career at HW. Nobody else is even coming close to having 2 HOF careers. And 3 of them is absurd. Time to appreciate what Pac has done in retirement.
Well we need some time for the dust to settle as with Mayweather another decade or so it will be easier to gauge once the hype has died down. Pacman is an ATG who had a fan friendly style and wasn't afraid of taking on big threats at whatever weight he was in. I think because of this Pacmans legacy will age better than Floyd's. Not sure about the 3 x HOF I'm not sure it works like that it should be sufficient enough that like the other ATG's that he is remembered as a warrior of the sport.
