You know when people are reaching when they are relying on a 14 second segment from someone's whole career to see if Pacquiao can hurt him.
This is the perception of people who don't actually know how to analyze styles. People think Floyd's "shoulder roll" involves standing still and taking shots on his body and shoulders with no foot movement. It's not so simple. Bingo.
that clip shows how good you have to be- but also how lucky you have to be , in boxing as in life. Had Corley landed that left hand follow up- he wouldve surely knocked Floyd down- and the whole course of history in boxing might have changed. this was Floyds first fight at 140- he wasnt solid yet at the weight- as he is now- and wasnt as confident. in this fight i think he learnt his limitations at the weight. he stayed in the pocket and fought hard- and traded often. I think this is the last time i saw him trade at this weight- after this he fought gatti, but other than that- since then - he s learnt he can get hurt at this weight- and has changed his style- to being happy with landing a punch at a time- and 10 a round. as i heard on the radio- if floyd needs 16 punches to win a round- he wont take that 17th punch- just to hurt a guy. his style now is as conservative as can be. still its interesting what might have been had corley landed. i think sure if pac lands he can hurt floyd- if ANYONE at this weight lands a good shot it wont tickle, anyone can be hurt. but the thing is- can anyone land successive shots on floyd- and shots with power. i think this coming fight will tell us alot.
Not really. He kept trading with Corely in that round even after he got hurt. He fought Bruseles next, who is bigger than Corley, and fought in the pocket against him. We saw what happened against Corely. He was the agressor and walked down both Mitchell and Judah. How Mayweather fights depends on his opponent. If Mosley can hit him and hurt him, he'll be cautious. If he finds that Mosley can't hit him or can't hurt him, he'll open up. People have to remember that before the N'Dou fight(which was at lighweight) he was desribed as cautious and defensive back then.
Funny how people want to call Sr a dumb crackhead who doesn't know what he's talking about. Yet he's basically a genius when he tried to make Floyd Jr avoid southpaws. Truth he is still ignorant because Floyd Jr has never had any trouble beating southpaws, even speedy ones. I think Pac fans should be more concerned about Pac's ability to cut off the ring. I wasn't too impressed with it in the Cotto fight.
For a boxer that's so skillful no other boxer has the skills to defeat him you'd think he'd fight anyone, no BS. Oh yeah, the money angle. Let me rephrase that then. For a boxer that's so skillful no other boxer has the skills to defeat him you'd think he'd fight anyone with good money, no BS. There's a reason why Floyd pulled that Olympic whatever BS. You are naive or blind if you don't know it.
So does Pacquiao really need 3 days to recover from a blood test? Because that's the reason he gave for turning it down.
Pacquiao has the kind of timing that can create opportunities like that. Too bad he's got something to hide.
