    1. the Mosley and Clottey fights didn't even happen yet
    2. Cotto is a better WW than Marquez
    3. Hatton is better at 140 than 147
    4. Pac destroyed Oscar while Floyd won a SD
    5. Based on what? They are both the same. Pac was more dominating.

And what did Cotto do to be seen as so great? The guy has never won a title that wasn't vacant.:deal He has never been linear in any weight class he's been in. JLC, Chico, Hoya and even Hatton will go down as better fighters than Cotto.:deal Tell that **** to someone who doesn't know any better, learn the sport fool.

well he did beat Shane Mosley about 2 years ago

he never won a title that wasn't vacant but Clottey was the IBF champ when he signed to fight Cotto. So its practically the same thing.

I never thought Cotto was a great fighter but **** he's better than Hatton.

But it's not the same thing. He didn't have the title when they fought.

No he isn't. Hatton is the more accomplished fighter he was the man at 140 for years something Cotto never accomplished. Not to mention the version of Cotto that Pac faced wasn't even the best version. His confidence was shot he was a mentally beaten fighter.

I'd rate Cotto and Hatton about even and at 140, head to head, I actually think I'd pick Hatton to win simply because Cotto has problems, mentally, when he can't outmuscle a guy and break him down. At 140 I don't think he'd be able to do that to Hatton.

Honestly I think they're both B-level fighters who overachieved. Both guys have their best wins against much older and a bit shopworn fighters, and at a time when the young guys were at their peak. And in both cases the fights were close and in some sense controversial.

Hatton at least has the case for being linear at 140 for a couple of years. But really there's not a whole lot between Cotto and Hatton.

I disagree but none of that changes the fact that Cotto beat Mosley about 2 years ago.

How many PPV buys do you think that would generate?

So the ultimate quality of a fighter is judged by a single fight? Boxing history is riddled with better fighters losing to worse fighters. I in no way believe that Norton was a better fighter than Ali, or that he was even a great heavyweight, for instance.

Probably not that many, but it would get people who post incessantly on threads like this to shut up.

Either that, or they'd just call everybody gay.
