It's bad for the image of boxing, but decreased clout could lead to less cautious management of Pacqhrist's career, more competitive matchups for him in the future, and less leverage when it comes to picking the weight limit of his future fights--no more fighting for titles at catch weights, I can only hope.

It hurts him just like it hurt JMM when he was robbed. Robberies damage a fighter's clout and bargaining capital, and getting a gift decision increases a fighter's money-making prospects the vast majority of the time--even if everyone agrees it was a shitty decision. This loss hurt Pacquiao's power outside of the ring and his chances of ever getting purse parity against Floyd.

 

other than the loss hurting pacquiao's power at the mayweather bargaining table, everything else remains to be seen, especially since he was disgracefully robbed.

 

Maybe people will finally let go of the pac vs floyd thing and focuss on other fighters/fights as well, in that way it is good.
But to have a huge star lose in such a controversial way cant be good in the eyes of many casuals who dont see this **** every month like us fans do.
