Fury, AJ and Wilder? I see 4 ducks in this pond. Usyks just continuing the status quo of this disgraceful era. I have the unrealistic dream of a HW champ fighting a new elite fighter every 6 months. Took it for granted when Wlad did it. Might never happen again.
I don't think the WBO ever intended on actually forcing the mandatory or Usyk to drop the title. They just wanted to ride the wave of public opinion and throw their weight around a bit. Sucks for Parker but that is the game. Parker needs to start demanding these things, he is a bit too passive and nice, he needs a bolshy team around him to get it done. I can see the Kabayel fight next, which kind of sucks for both of them as they are both on the cusp of well deserved titles/titleshots. I think Parker and Kabayel should both take relatively light touches to keep things ticking over while they wait for their title shots.
As much as I give wlad stick for his style, it was refreshing to see the Heavyweight champion fighting everyone and not waiting on the sidelines for rematches
Parkers redemption has been great but I honestly think the promotions don't think he brings in enough money Hence why they don't push for him more
They don't have the ability to. Parker is currently the 4th best regarded HW champ. They aren't going to cut Parker loose but theres no ability to compel Parker into the mix. The thing with Kabayel is these guys were competing for title shots.......in like 2017. Parkers got into the mix nearly a full decade and has had a full career at the top flight before Kabayel even got his oppurtunity. Thats how egregiously slow this division is going.
I recall people (Hearn?) saying before that Parker's style was boring and he needs to be more exciting if he wants the big fights. Been a criticism of his since the Joshua fight. I was hoping that the Bakole KO might help get him some of the bigger fights. I think in one of Parker's vlogs he alluded to the fact that he need more power and to be more exciting, and that because he wasn't that was the reason he wasn't getting fights after the Zhang win.
I used to agree with you when I was a kid. I've reconsidered. Those of us that felt that way in the 2010s were wrong and are paying the price for our sins. We wanted excitement and toxicity and we got it. Vitali and the WBC is a different story. While hes kinda the 5th duck at least he sorta had a good reason. He was clearing his way for his brother to be the clear cut champ. Thats as noble a sacrifice as any. I'm not going to pretend he was really a champ at that time but I'm not going to blame him for "almost destroying" the division either.
Weren't you the same one that said Dubois knocked Usyk out? So in your view getting revenge for the loss against the man who vastly improved is an easy fight? LOL.
How? By being head and shoulders above everybody and dominating them? By beating every top contedner? That's the definition of being the great champion. Well, Wlad was, Vitali was just feasting on second tier guys.
Briedis in Latvia Gassiev in Russia Glowacki in Poland Huck in Germany Bellew in England Hunter in the US Mchunu in the US (neutral) A Latvian, Russian, Pole, German, Brit, American, South African Then we have all the guys Usyk fought pre-title contention and reign: Mexican, Columbian, Ghanaian, Argentine, 3 South Africans, Russian, Cuban He would've fought a Surinamese-Dutchman for his HW debut had they not popped dirty so he fought an American at very late notice instead Chisora is from Zimbabwe and came over to become an adopted Brit after moving here when he was 16 Newsflash! AJ was the reigning three-belt unified king and Usyk was locked into a rematch against him Newsflash! Belly was the reigning WBC champ and it was a unification match up for all the marbles and again he there was a rematch clause And even if there hadn't been a rematch clause in place who in god's name could begrudge Usyk the £80 million or whatever the actual huge sum he was paid for the rematch after being criminally underpaid for the vast majority of his career for someone of his vast talent and accomplishments and being lowballed with a way way lower split than Belly in the first fight? Usyk had to bend over backwards, make huge concessions, and have his career screwed around and stalled just to entice Belly into a ring with him And let's not forget the tsunami of excuses about Usyk not beating the real AJ after the first fight, AJ's trainer Rob McCracken costing him the fight and how the new and improved whilst ''old'' ''aggressive'' AJ was going to flatten Usyk in the rematch when 99% of other fighters in his position would've walked away and guess what they would've been totally justified for doing so And the excuses after the first fight about Belly having been robbed, the cut eye, no sparring due to said cut eye, Paris having a miscarriage etc. Kind of similar to all the excuses re. Dubois being ''robbed of a KO win'' in his ''highly controversial fight'' against Usyk and how the ''new and improved' and ''more experienced'' and '''much better'' Dubois who has been on a tear of KOs and stoppage wins ever since which still by my lights is clearly more impressive than the three-fight tear J-Park has been on and Dubois, like AJ and Belly were when Usyk fought them is the only other HW who holds one of the four jigsaw pieces. Not to mention Dubois has performed way better than J-Park vs all the common opponents he shares with him. Dubois is a also a bigger, much more dangerous and risky fight for Usyk in my opinion and a much more financially lucrative one than J-Park is for Usyk but now Usyk is ''ducking'' J-Park by opting to try and silence the critics, many of the same critics who are now accusing him of ducking J-Park, who crucified him after the Dubois fight Usyk is 38 y/o and he has not only already done everything that was asked of him and needed to do 10 x over but has religiously done things which some of the so called 'great' have gloves won't travel deck-stacking loaded dice rolling inverse 'warriors' and serial cheats literally not only never did once but categorically refused to ever do once in their entire careers Uysk's opposition in just 23 fights is about as international as it gets
