Is Parker the worst ever "paper" champion at HW?

He's not the worst but he is terrible.

 

Whislt I agree Parker is not a world beater but to be fair to him his last few opponents takem Ruiz , the other fella, fury and not stand there and trade punchers. There all fairly boring opponents in terms of boxing styles. Which in turn makes Parker look boring or poorer than what he is

You don't consider the way he flails his arms around and falls over his own feet athletic? That takes tremendous mind-body coordination, I think you'll find, especially if you want to do it as convincingly as Mr Wilder.

 

Parker's limitations are pretty apparent now. He looks good against come forward fighters whom he holds an athletic advantage over but falls apart against out boxers when he has to press the issue. Someone like Malik Scott could well beat him or make him look very bad, while a come forward guy like Povetkin would give Parker a lot more chances to unload (though I'd favour Povs in that). Joshua would absolutely take him apart, a fighter who can fight going backwards or forwards. He'd walk Parker onto something big then follow up and destroy him.

I don't know where he goes from here. He can change trainers and all that, but I think the limitations are inherent in Joe himself. He's just not that smart in a boxing sense and doesn't seem to be able to grasp the higher aspects of the sport, and even some of the fundamental ones. It's amazing he's come this far on his athleticism alone (Wilder? lol) but with every fight he's laying the blueprint for how to beat him. Hughie's team already had it down but just didn't have enough to work with to make it happen. Luckily for him there aren't too many other boxers like that in the top twenty at the moment but Parker's team need to be very selective in who they target from now on if they want to keep his earning potential alive.

 

Parker fought better opponents than Wilder yet Parker is the worst paper champ. Funny.

 

It's a ridiculous thread considering Charles Martin was recently a belt holder.

At least Parker fights undefeated prospects, unlike Wilder fighting years past his best Areola, and barely top 50 heavyweights like Molina.

 

Parker is the weakest titlist but you can't knock his resume.

 

Takam gave Povetkin a tough fight... Ate his best shots until finally they caught up with him late into the fight, Ruiz Jr. was undefeated and has never been hurt or knocked down, Cajanu is the true black mark here.. He had no business going 12, but there's a rumor that Parker went into the fight with a hand injury and if true that explains things a bit. Fury ran all night, was much quicker and slipperier than Parker so that to can also be forgiven.

Wilder's may have more proven power at the world stage but his KO's and performances are hardily impressive... Molina was stopped in 1 by Jordan and Arreola, yet took everything Wilder could throw at him for almost 9 rounds - then AJ annihilated him inside 3. Szpilka has no chin... Was dropped like 4x by Mollo, stopped by light hitting Jennings, recently was stopped by the limited Kownack quicker than against Wilder. Arreola was just shot to bits... No comment. Duhaupas showed a chin of steel and despite taking a severe beating went 11 and busted Wilder up pretty good too. 35 year old football player Washington was outboxing him, before getting stopped in the 5th. In 5 world title performances Wilder has never looked amazing, yet his fanboys act like has has....

Both Parker and Wilder are badly flawed titlists, AJ is clearly the man with the brightest future. But at least Parker was moved quickly, has time on his side.. He's 25 compared to Wilders 32. So while clearly the weakest link of the 3 he definitely has more upside than the aging and very flawed Wilder, but if they were to fight now I'd probably pick Wilder by stoppage.

Tua's whole career is ironic, has wins over 7 world champs but
never became one. That has to be some type of record.

I'd say Michael Bent or Joe Hipp or Seldon were all far worse than Parker.

 

Parker has looked a lot more tested than the other two but he has faced the test. It's generally agreed Parker has a better resume than Wilder, lets not forget that means that Parker has foughter harder opposition YET Wilder was arguably losing against Gerald Washington until the KO, was also getting a hard time for Szpilka and Eric Molina who isn't even that big a puncher managed to hurt Wilder.

Hughie is going to make ANY fighter look bad, like Tyson Fury did to Klitschko. That was a 1+ year YOUNGER Klitschko than what had an epic fight with AJ and almost won - people shouldn't convince themselves that was because Klitschko negative aged in that time. It has everything to do with the dance partner

 

seeing as the other two titleholders are chasing 38 year old fatties, it appears to be vogue in HW boxing to display mediocrity these days.
