Is Paul Williams fast?

For a welter he's average at best, but for a middle he's fast

Faster then Taylor?....nah, I don't think so
Faster the Kelly? Yeah by alot
Faster then Chad? No
Slower then floyd? Well....at 154 Floyd didn't look to having blinding speed to me, but at 147, yeah I'd say he's much slower

 

PW isn't so much fast as he is loose. he throws quick, crisp punches. as for answering the question as you posted it, i pretty much agree with monstar.

As for the 2nd part of the question, can he fight these guys? At 160, prime Taylor would score a pretty convincing UD. Pavlik will knock him out. Pavlik is a freaking nightmare for Paul. 154 is not Floyd's division, but it will probably turn out to be Paul's best weight. I'd give him that one.

Dawson? Don't even go there.

 

His speed isn't extraordinary, but his timing is superb, when he's on(not the first quintana fight)

Very fast combination puncher with excellent timing and placement. Combined with his extraordinary arm length, his flurries are incomparable for his weight(s).

 

Avg speed. But he doesn't need Pacman or Floyd Jr. Speed with all the other attributes he has.

 

When he fought at welterweight he looked average to above average.

At middle, he looked surprisinginly fast and sharp.

Paul Williams is a nightmare matchup for anyone I can think of right now from 147-160.

Kelly Pavlik is not a nightmare matchup for Paul. Paul would likely outbox him, rendering Kelly with a puncher's chance.

But considering Paul can be open at times for big punches, it's a big chance......either way it's inconclusive.

 

Williams has good handspeed at 160 above average at 154 and average at 147.

Too much of his speed comes from 'arm punching'. A lot of his combos have no body twist to them. No leverage.

 

Well according to someone, because Margo is able to throw 80-100 punches a round he's really fast.
