Am I the only one who thinks Paul Williams would be a much tougher fight for PBF than Cotto?

With Paul Williams height, long reach, and punch output, I really believe Paul would make for a harder fight than Cotto. I see Mayweather countering Cotto the whole night. It would be much harder to counter someone who KEEPS punching. Maybe it's just me?

I agree with you. I think of the current welterweight champs, Paul Williams presents the toughest challenge for PBF. I also believe Margarito would be a tougher fight than Cotto. I think Cotto is great, btw, I just think his style is taylor-made for PBF, a bad match-up for Cotto all the way.

I agree as well, way tougher to be honest. He has height, reach, speed, movement/defense, stamina and an iron chin, definitely the tougher fight but Cotto is a bigger name compared with Williams so many people prefer that fight.

No way Mayweather even considers fighting Williams, no one at all seems to want to risk losing to this guy at the moment.

I totally disagree....paul wont bring technical pressure he will bring volume punching, he does not know how to cut off the ring because he has never needed to. Physically he does have some massive tools to work with but he will not utilize them to his advantage. Only way PBF loses that fight would be due to inactivity because Paul brings action and action brings pts.

I agree that Williams is the toughest for PBF. He is the 3rd best fighter in the division though.

Paul willima sis young...his tools are amazing. Height, reach, are unheard of...alos for a tall guy he has AMAZING balance-one of boxings overlooked requirements. HEarns had poor balance as a rangy welterweight...williams has great balnce and fluidity of movement-watch him light up margo with 3-4 punch combo, get UNDER margos punch and pivot away...totally off the charts. ANd his punch volume is legendary. His power is so-so IMO and he lacks a high level of ring intelligence ...but he is young and with some more big fights watch out. The only thing that can stop his shooting star is if 147 becomes impossible or drains him so much that his body breaks down.

Probably, but I still would pick Floyd.

Williams is a pressure fighter, that doesnt utilize his height and reach, and slaps a lot of with his punches. He also has horrible defensive skills and takes a lot of punches.
Floyd has already shown what he does with guys like that in Corrales, and now Hatton. Williams would get stopped quicker than Hatton. Cotto is the only one who presents the most danger for Floyd, and its evident that he can handle a crafty boxer with his body attack and underated timing.

Cotto deserves a fight with Floyd more than Williams. But PW is the bigger style matchup problem for Mayweather. Floyd would have to attack Williams to get within his reach. Close the distance. That's not his main style. He's used to opponents trying to do what Castillo did in their first bout. I'd say PW takes a punch better than Corrales. He's taken shots from big welterweights like Margo and had no problems.

The only reason I would say yes it the height and reach difference. Which will be massive, but I'd still expect Mayweather to win with his superior skill set.

I'll say that Paul still have to prove himself , he only had margarito, who was looking for a one shot win since they start the fight, If Paul Faces a fighter with good boxing skills who can punch we can see what he is made of ...
