Is Pavlik/Abraham still relevant?

It would still be an interesting fight. Both fighters have been defeated, but they may show that they are still in the elite bracket by beating the other.

Pavlik by KO or wide UD.

    :think

By my count, he's had his ears boxed off in a one-sided drubbing just once (against Hopkins - the Martinez fight was a clear loss but had see-sawing momentum).

    Abraham's rocked that ignominy twice...in a row.

If we're saying it's a resounding no re: Pavlik being relevant (and I'm not even disagreeing with you there) it seems like in all fairness the same answer should apply to Abe as of this moment.

It's relevant enough to sell. I wanna see it. Gotta see how comfortably Pav can spar beforehand though.

Abraham might not be all that what we thought but what about Kelly Pavlik...

AA by KO. pavik has no defence, footwork neither is his jab nothing special to keep AA off.

White American Hype job going down and hard.

Abraham still whoops him. You need to be a crafty fighter to beat Abraham. Pavilk is too basic to be able to beat Abraham.

I would love to see that fight though. It has the makings of an epic war.

I tell you this, I would have picked Abraham a while back, but Froch destroyed his Body. He now has a Glass Body, and as my great grandfather used to say "Once they crack, they don't come back".

This fight is now the equivalent of a wardrobe on legs (Pavlik) verses a cracked pane of Glass on legs (Abraham). :deal

When I made this thread I assumed that both guys would have at least one decent win under his belt before they met head to head.

    It's not as relevant.
If they fought each other it would still be good. If either could make 160 I'd be surprised to be honest. The sooner Sturm loses his title the sooner 160 will heat up again. Same can be said for Sylvester. We need Martinez, Pirog and the likes of Golovkin/Geale/N'kam/Maklin/Lemeiux/Lee/Guerrero/Jacobs/Lopez etc getting involved with each other. The fans need to ee this lot mixing it and FAST

I disagree. I respect Froch a lot and he is a good fighter, but he certainly isn't a ''crafty boxer''.

Actually, Pavlik and Froch have a lot of similarities. Both are tall guys with a lot of heart, great chins, power, stamina and high workrates. I don't see why Kelly couldn't do what the Brit did, if he follows a good gameplan.
