Is Pavlik The Great White Hype?

Is Kelly even that hyped on this board?

I swear, the moment some fighter gains momentum, some assholes say he's over hyped.

 

I think that he is not hype! when there is dominant puncher that ko's everybody he is all ways hyped little bit! that dose not meter if he is black or white imo!

 

He just all Hyped up period for reason. He is a very average fighter and american.

 

What Elite fighter has he koed? No one.

 

Exactly! The KO is the most marketable thing in boxing.

 

The most marketable thing in boxing is an undefeated record. Once you get drawn by that, your hooked by the way he KOs people. If he wasn't undefeated, he'd be looked at far differently.

 

He deserves for the time being the praise he gets !

 

pavlik is the man right now... steps up and fights whoever in the ring... hes good for boxing in every aspect of it...

I think it is undeniable some of his appeal lies in his skin colour. At this point add that to his hometown homespun image and you have a marketing dream. :smoke

However, what I think the real question is - is all this hype deserved? My answer is yes. As a boxing fundemantalist he is a breath of fresh air; I think he has a net positive effect on the sport. His high level of KO's and his style of fighting is the more traditional, old-school approach. And while some folks who know nothing call it 1-dimensional :-( ; those in the know can appreciate the simple and subtle things that make Kelly Pavlik both an exciting and interesting fighter to watch. :good

 

Pavlik knocks MF'ers out which is what a fighter is supposed to do regardless of race.

I dont care what colour he is. I would watch him with green or blue colour. He is undefeated, has an exciting style, he knocks people out and he beat Taylor, who was expeceted to be the next big thing after his Hopkins fights. He deserves some hype.
