Is Peter Quillin the best middleweight right now?

I am not talking about record, or about what someone did 10 fights ago. I know Martinez is considered to be the best middleweight based on what he did in the past. But I think Martinez is past his prime or his best days and will just try and cash out soon, he is getting up there in age.

I think kid chocolate might be the best middleweight right now, I think he'd whoop just about any other middle weight around today. He is fast, has power, can hit a guy with a good shot while backing away (See winky wright fight). Frankly I am quiet impressed by him. His one draw back is lack of an amateur career and probably never have been in a fight where he really been losing and getting beat up. But I have a hard time seeing Martinez at this point beating him. Only GGG would be the next toughest middleweight based on their last fight, and he gets hit alot and swollen face even in fights where he knocks guys out. I don't think He'd last 7 rounds against Quillin. 5 fights from now I think he'll be recognized as the best.

I tend to agree with you. But i want to see him and Golovkin fight. Tired of everyone putting Golovkin in the ring with Mayweather and Ward, he is not on their level yet. Kid Chocolate is who he needs to fight, and frankly i give the edge to Quillin... right now

I really like Peter, he's got a great attitude and he's an exciting fighter, but he was being decisively out boxed by N'Dam and thus far in his career has been carefully matched to look good.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he does against Rosado, I expect a tough fight. To think they almost matched him with Sergio Mora, that's probably the worst fighter to give him. Forget a healthy Pirog, I'd be interested in how Peter would handle Barker, Macklin, Sturm, or Rubio.

I do like Peter as a person and it's unfortunate what happened to him and his wife, but he would not be able to beat GGG based off what I've seen of both. Quillin hits hard, but I see them as more explosive than heavy, clubbing blows. I really hope they can be able to fight each other in the future. It would be a great fight with any outcome fine with me.

Yeah kinda^. I'm not saying Kid C can't or couldn't be a top guy, but he's shown vulnerabilities which the other 'top guy' hasn't. For some curious reason it's being sold as a plus point that he put N'Dam down 6 times - if a fighter puts someone down 6 times I'm wondering how in hell it ever went to the cards...

Mora would be bad for him I... if fact f#kkit - what you said almost word for word. :good

Let's just see what happens with King Gabe to start with tho.

Mora would be bad for anyone though, even GGG, IMO he is the MW version of Paulie Malignaggi. feather fisted ****y idiot, but with good footwork and better than average boxing ability. would be hard for anyone to look good against.

what happened to him and his wife?

I seen quillin he isn't a real drummer like golvolkin is, he has short hard shots, the kind that really hurt guys because they catch them off guard with their chins out when they are reaching in. With golvolkin, you see those punches from a mile a way and have time to move if your skilled enough.

I think I read him and his wife had a miscarriage when she was 4 months. For me though with Golovkin, it's his placement and the way he sets you up that impresses me. It's one example, but that shot against Macklin totally caught him off guard. Even if you have time to move, he's going to keep stalking you and eventually land something big. Peter kind of just seems to throw it and see what happens. GGG is too economical. Not hating on Peter at all, but there were some points during the N'Dam fight where I said if this was Golovkin hitting him, damn. GGG has too much experience, he would be able to adapt to Quillin, I'm not sure about vice versa.

****..That's hard. Read a 'scene article today said he's got a little business (well, more like branding some stuff) going and Mrs Qs got a decent job as a programming exec or something (forget which channel) - still nothing makes up for that kinda thing.

But yeah, Quillin has some speed and pop, but ain't in the same league skill wise (and if he takes 4 KDs to take Guerrero out and 6 without stopping N'Dam - his power ain't all that either) as Golovkin IMO. Still i'd like to see them actually fight...ah well.

Yeah you gotta do something to take your mind off something sad like that. But yeah this fight is one that needs to get made somehow. As it's been stated before, there's really no one of meaning for Quillin to fight on Showtime. If he wants to make a mark for himself, either the Cold War somehow gets settled, or he jumps ship.
