Franscesco Pianeta easily displatched his undefeated opponent in his reutrn bout, winning the German Int HW title.

Now, Pianeta is slated to return for his 32 pro bout, fighting for the WBO European title.

It's definately a move to get Pianeta back into the WBO rankings should Wladimir lose to Leapei, Pulev, or the Fury/Chisora winner.

Francesco landed several dozen hard shots on Wlad from his SP stance, several shots that woulda dropped lesser fighters.

He has solid wins over Dominguez, Botha, McCall Sr, Tueber(who was getting some hype from his Sandow KO win), Skelton, Duhaupus, Gammer,Wiggins, Wilson, Marrone and Hawkins.

Pretty SOLID lower tier contender resume........and, it seems Pianeta is healthy, cancer free, and is committed to fighting regularly and stepping up in LOC, or at least trying to get fights worthy of higher LOC.

Ppl are also raggin on fighters getting undeserved title shots, but even though Pianeta wasnt hugely known in the US, his resume was/is fairly impressive compared to that of even Fury, Pulev, Glaskov, Wilder. He has better overall wins than Arreola, and Stiverne(outside Arreola).

Price came back with two very solid wins over Ruszinsky and Pala....Pala who took tons of shots from DelBoy and lost by British stoppage to Delboy. He also had Delboy seriously hurt just prior to the British stoppage.

This would be a risky fight for Price, but a win over Pianeta would give him much needed experience to rematch the Tiger as their styles are near identical. Although it may be too much for Price since he struggled with that style coming from a 41 yo Thompson, and Pianeta is a hungry young contender. However, Paineta doesn't have the killer instinct of Thompson or the ring generalship.

Would be a great fight with the winner being a bold choice of defense for the WBO HW title.

They arent messing about with Price thought he would have like 3 tune ups

I remember Pianeta being tough and actually trying to go for the knockout against Wlad

    Not a bad fight

Pianeta vs Price is actually a good fight, a decent step up for Price, but i don't need to see Wlad-Pianeta II, even if he somehow becomes WBO mandatory

they sure love to coddle Price :rofl:patsch

His Glass Jaw is getting shattered as soon as he fights a live body again. Price like Amir Khan simply is not a prizefighter.

Im suggesting it might be in the works:think

Price is rated by the WBO and has proven his heart in fighting a very dangerous Pala.
Price had Thompson nearly KOd in the rematch, and only lost b/c he gassed. Much like Wlad vs Brewster without all the foul play.

Had Price not gassed in that fight, he'd have already fought Delboy and KHTFO and we'd have our Price/Fury fight.

But b/c of the loss, Price has to take less prominent fights. This is a perfect fight for both guys, and the winner would defo clinch a spot in the top 10, IMHO.:think

Wlad Klitschko was TKOd by Sanders much like Price was vs Thomspon 1.

Wlad Klitschko was TKOd by Brewster 1 much like Price was by Thomspon 2.

Wlad Klitschko came right back vs a banger in Pala, much like Wlad did when he fought Sam Peter.

Price is a bit on the "old" side to be making this comeback in the manner that Wladimir did, and there are no Byrds, Liakovichs, Ibragimovs, Chagaevs for Price to go right after a title against.

Price got one chance ATM, and that's to fight high rated ABC fighters so he can go for the vacant WBA kiddie belt, or the WBC title.

Well in that case I think Pianeta stops Price in the 3rd round. Say what you want about Pianeta but he had 100% the right gameplan and attitude against Klitschko. He was very, very close to landing a few of his big shots too. Price is too stiff and timid to be able to withstand Pianeta's pressure.

Another good matchup for Price would be against Andrzej Wawrzyk. Who has been almost forgot about due to how the elite Povetkin handled him. But look at his two brutalizing ko wins since then against decent foes. Danny Williams who he destroyed in one round and Botha who again he crushed into the ground.

    Thanks for the video....

yeah, Wawzryk gets a lot of hate on this board b/c he has chin issues exposed by Bahtov. But he's got heart and showed he'll take tough fights.

Perhaps Wawzryk vs Pianeta would be a better choice for this WBO title.:think

Yeah this would be a good fight, think we'll see Price fight a lot this year.. Maybe even 4 or 5 times, a fight with Pianeta towards the end of the year would be good...

IDK about Wawzryk man, he seems pretty content with beating up shot old men than facing live bodies.. Based of the way things have been going we'll probably see him in with Maskaev or McCall next.....:-(

Someone's gotta put Maskaev out of business. Same with Petkovic.

These guys are lingering around in the top 50 and shouldnt be fighting PERIOD.

Both would be nice resume boosters.....as for McCall.....he's always a stiff test for a comebacking or upncoming fighter. Same with Guinn and Barrett.

I wouldnt mind seeing Wawzryk vs any of the 5 name fighters. Just want to see him acheive his full potential. And get his name back in the mix.

Same goes for Price, Boytsov, Pianeta, Charr etc.......I don't think a loss should define a fighter.

Eddie Chambers and Tony Thompson are prime examples. They took losses but they also came back for title fights, earning their shots by staying active and fighting tough competition.

Point? Since getting his asss handed to him by Povetkin, he's only faced shot to **** guys like Williams and Botha(who he struggled with in the early rounds) not the kind of fights that a serious heavyweight contender would take, looks to me that he knows his limit and wants to take easy fights until he gets another payday. So yeah, like I said, expect to see him in with somebody like McCall or Maskaev next, not a live heavyweight.

He's mixed it with better company than Fury, Wilder, Boytsov, Jennings, Price and the like.
