What could Povetkin learn from Atlas? Atlas hates Wlad with a vengeance, we all know that. But what magic key does Teddy hold that will make a win for Alexander more likely than training with any other bum trainer?

I don't think Povetkin can beat Wlad or Chambers again. Povetkin is straight up overrated and his amatuer success is due to the fact that he stayed as amatuer for so long. He's a good boxer, but he's not the next best thing in the heavyweight as some of his fans claimed earlier.

i've said it before, atlas' great strength is working on motivation. i think if povetkin is properly motivated he can make a real go of it. and yeah, atlas is VERY ****ing biased against wlad but he is a great strategist and may provide some good insight. i don't think he'll win or it'll help him that much but atlas is GREAT at what he does

No, Povetkin's earned his shot at Wladimir's title and has had his tuneups, he should face Wladimir this winter.

Pov still has plenty of time, no rush in my opinion. I don't think he was ready for Wlad because he's not fought enough BIG guys. He's fought too many athletic, smaller types recently.

It would be a mistake to have a tune up against a can for him to knock over. I'd like to see him fight a big guy.

to chambers best of luck with facing wlad. in light of his last win i expect him to have courage do not run that much from vlad and get knocked out badly as a result.

you know whats wrong with teddy? he is either works from the underdog or makes the potential/prospects loosers. i don't know how he does that but he does. while this is in effect i seixe to care about his "true" boxing image. steward is not as close to his kamikaze truthfulness, but gets his job done with hardly loosing at all..

Even if he makes 10 tune up fights . . . he will still lose to Wlad because of his fighting style and it's too late for him to change style now.

Atlas greatest achievement is training a semi-bum like Moorer. His "motivational" techniques consist of threatening his boxer of throwing in the towel or waving a cell phone in front of the boxer saying that the fighters kid is on the phone, crying about how bad his father is boxing. You've got to be kidding me.

Motivation and hunger can't be taught in the gym. Either a fighter has it or he doesn't. Atlas can't make Povetkin any more hungry and ready for a title than he already is. Povetkin is an accomplished amateur who has all the tools to take out Wlad, as long as he has the BALLS to do it.

The worst case is that Atlas completely messes up Povetkin who comes in with the wrong game plan for Wlad and gets taken out early and then mentally breaks down and quits boxing.

it seems obvious that he'll give up he is risking his mandatory bought with Wlad, but it also shows some confidence in himself for other reasons. Put your self in his shoes, he sees the big fight with BIG money finally, he could take it and get the money. But he sees that he doesn't quite have the tools to win yet and feels that it is in his grasp if he gets more training. If he didn't think he could beat Wlad then he'd take the fight, get the money and get out of their. If he has confidence in himself and is logical he'll pass by the money for now, being confident that he can regain the mandatory due to his abilities in the the future and will have the tools to beat Wlad. I think its better for boxing as Povetkin could make a fight out of it. You have to remember Povetkin isn't just the next bum of the month, this kid hasn't lost and many, many years, and he doesn't plan to anytime soon.

Well he would have to lose his mandatory spot and go down the IBF rankings or fight the winner of Chambers/Wlad. IMO Povetkin loses to Chambers or Wlad.

If he thinks he needs a tune up then he's doing the right thing. He wants to make sure he's 100% ready for Wladimir and that's a good sign.
