This content is protected Eddie Chambers and Taurus Sykes may not have enough firepower to knock him out, but Wladimir Klitschko certainly does.
He has a solid chin and imo the best mental game of any fighter out there though. He will take Wlad into VERY deep waters, where he will break down
Biggs was not bad at all. Except that he was an idiot. Povetkin does not seem to be an idiot. By the time of his Tyson fight, Biggs had been to rehab. Povetkin does not even drink.
If baby face doesn't learn to move his head, Klitschko will spank him with that big right hand. This content is protected
what i mean is he's had all these major fights so early in his career and it's likely to damage him big time
EXACTLY. People grossly underestimate mental toughness and what it can do for a fighter. Take the Chambers fight for example. Povetkin had the flu and was changing shades from pink to purple. He was down the first 3 or 4 rounds but he still managed to just keep throwing punches and never tired out. It takes one helluva fighter to do that. Wlad on the other hand gives ground to Sultan, who has no power and is just looping punches out there. He also knows he has a bad chin and trys to cover it up. Povetkin will swarm all over him. I see Povetkin possibly hitting the canvas early but I GUARENTEE he will get up and not change a beat. Mid-late rounds Wlad will go "oh ****, this guy isn't slowing down and taking my best punches" and break down mentally. I see Povetkin getting a late tko or taking a close decision
Can't compare Brock to Povetkin though. I agree with most posters that Povetkin WILL take Wlads right hand more than a couple times. The thing for me is that I believe Povetkin can and will take them. I see him getting off the canvas to win this fight. If Wlad wins it will be early-mid fight imo, after hitting at home with his right multiple times. If Povetkin wins it is going to be a late tko or decision since he just needs to break down Wlad (mentally and physically), which I think he will definitely do. The other thing to worry about with Povetkin is his cutting and bruising, which is where the ref will come into play as I am 100% sure that Povetkin will never quit. I heard about a month ago that Povetkins camp was working on his head movement. If he can successfully employ that against Wlad then he will surely win this fight imo cause he is very slow to come inside (not the greatest reach) and leaves himself open to the right. Regardless though, call me crazy, but I think he can take Wlads shots and keep fighting. Don't let the guys looks fool you, he is an absolute machine and has never been down before (am or pro)......and yes I know he's never been in there with Wlad-level puncher, but he has the stamina and mentality to get through it IMO. I will be EXTREMELY curious to see the lines on Povetkin for this fight, since I think he will be around 2/1 or 2.5/1, and I think that is excellent betting odds for this matchup since Povetkin isn't right for Wlad (yes vice-versa too). Nontheless this will make for an amazing fight that I have been waiting for for over a year :happy :happy :happy
Chambers has some of the fastest hands I seen in the division since an early 2000's Bryd, Chambers has the skills, but lacks the power, workrate, and the dedication needed to get a belt. Povetkin will give Wlad a fight, after Wlad's last couple lackluster performances, I think if Povetkin can hang in there through 8, he might be able to get Wlad out down the stretch. Wlad's certainly a favorite, but Povetkin will be Wlad's toughest oppenent since Peter in September of 05.
his 1-2 is not faster's than wlad's. compare chambers' speed to some of the jab, right-crosses klit was landing on Peter. That's the type of target he will have in front of him. im leaning towards wlad stopping povetkin mid-rounds. All Wlad has to do is keep busy with the jab and Povetkin will do the rest by walking into power shots.
Chambers jab i and straight has more speed, obviously not the power Wlad has. Povetkin will be game, but I too predict a Wlad mid round KO.
u are hoping this is the case. his chin has never been tested at this level. he is going to walk into a lot of right hands. And even if he has an excellent chin, if he takes too many, he will get taken out. i can see wlad stopping povetkin at any point. he has bulldozing power in both fists and if povetkin walks into the right power punch, he will get KTFO. U r also ignoring the impact of the clinches. Wlad is far stronger than Povetkin and he will get tied up inside. that could really wear povetkin down. nobody has used that tactic against him that ive seen. 240 pounds of pressure is going to take its toll. i have a hard time seeing povetkin or anyone outpointing wlad. even if wlad is gunshy, he will spoil povetkin's offense in clinches and utilize footment and his left hand to keep space. If it goes to the cards, Povetkin will lose. the jab could really mess up povetkin's face I heard about a month ago that Povetkins camp was working on his head movement.....he is an absolute machine and has never been down before (am or pro)[/quote] I read that his sparring parters said he was very talented but gets hit too much. Even some of his managers/advisors are against the wlad fight. i smell a 1 year avatar bet :yep
