I was watching a few older Povetkin fights today and I came across this one. I remember the fight being quite competitive at the time, but I never realised how exciting it was. I personally think this is one of the better HW fights of the last few years; some excellent exchanges and a nice back and forth rhythm to the action. Chags was a bit past his best at this point, though still a very handy fighter, and Povetkin was maybe at his sharpest and most dangerous. It's the sort of fight that tends to fly under the radar due to a lack of knockdowns and dramatic moments, but it's the type of fight that makes for consistently quality viewing IMO. Thoughts? Yeah was a good fight, one of many top Povetkin performances. I'd imagine all the Anti-Povetkin losers will be in to hijack this thread soon though and try to claim it wasn't. Funny how 95% of Povetkins haters are blackboys. IS the fact no blackboy could ever beat the superior eastern european athlete Povetkin a thing that bothers them I wonder! They seem to hate Povetkin, Golovkin, Calzaghe, Marciano, Lomachenko, Usyk much more than they hate Hatton, Froch, and Alvarez.
