Is Povetkin's bad luck in getting title shot a result of him ducking Wlad for years?

Orrr ... the gap between Lewis and Holy was smaller than the gap between Wlad and Pov.

I seriously hope some people aren't suggesting that Povetkin is on Holyfields level, lol.

No, he isn't. Because unlike Holyfield, Povetkin never lost to journeymen and non-ATG and blown up middleweights.

Couldn't see Povetkin beating the likes of Bowe, and Tyson myself.

Holyfield got schooled by Chris Byrd. And a 11 fight novice Povetkin demolished Chris Byrd. Same thing with Larry Donald. Larry Donald exposed Holyfield. A green Povetkin shut out Larry Donald.

A 38 year old Mike Tyson got destroyed by Kevin McBride. A 38 year old Povetkin demolished David Price (David Price is better than Kevin McBride). And Mariusz Wach brutally one punch KO'ed Kevin McBride, who Mike Tyson couldn't beat. And the same Mariusz Wach got battered and stopped by Alexander Povetkin.

Alexander Povetkin > Mike Tyson or Evander Holyfield!

We will never know. Povetkin could have beaten Bowe, Eddie Futch was angry with Bowe as Bowe was lazy, was not even in Bowe's corner with the Golota rematch! I was in Bowe's camp years ago, Slim Jim Robinson, Big Foot Martin, Rock Newman and one of my all time favorite trainers and person Eddie Futch!!! Papa Smurf! He was a very nice person, but did not like a lazy person. Povetkin could have beaten Bowe..................As far as Tyson goes, it all depends on which Tyson, if it was the prime Tyson it would have been hell, but the Don King Tyson, Povetkin would have beaten him................I would pick Povetkin to knock Wilder out, so did Wilder and Haymon when they begged the WBC to cancel the fight, what many do not know is that Wilder/Haymon was begging the WBC to cancel the fight before VADA made their mistake, VADA then cleared Povetkin, but WBC would not allow Povetkin to knock Wilder out! Guess who had a hand in that? ALWAYS BUY, HAYMON BOXING INSURANCE, HELL, IT WORKS LIKE MAGIC!

No. It's the champion that hold obligations.

Povetkin did finally fight Vlad..................but Vlad was still good at the time and did hold a lot, threw Povetkin to the canvas, it was a sloppy fight..................Vlad at that level was far better than Joshua and even now he is superior to Wilder............

You called this in your thread the other week about the problems anyone under 6”4 have in facing these modern giants and to be sure I knew you didn’t include Price in that list anyway.
I mean have you ever seen a Gold medal winner with the following Povetkin had/has get so outclassed in a fight to the point where all he could was put his head down, charge forward and swing for the hills cause that’s what Povetkin did against Wlad.
Sure Wlad did use his height n weight and used some less than savoury tactics but that aside I thought Povetkin was gonna get knocked out from Wlads jab alone, take a look at it and if you can recall anyone getting rocked off a jab like that I’d love to see it.

Povetkin has this rabid fan base that don’t seem to be able to accept what happens the minute he meets a Wilder,Joshua or Fury it would be the same.
No shame he beats everyone else up but he’s next to no chance against one of the big dogs using their reach n height smartly.
Fans tend to go overboard but all you need to know is that if Joshua wants to fight Povetkin before Wilder then I think that should tell you the threat AJ thinks he poses.

Turns out Wlad that for years it looked like he was fighting within himself cause in his last fight regardless of age he turned the clock back pre Emanuel and yes we know he got KOd for it but what a way to pass on the torch as he could of beaten Joshua imo by jab n hold Emanuel school of boxing, says something about the man I reckon.

Alexander Povetkin survived 12 rounds against Wladimir Klitschko. And Wladimir Klitschko was the first boxer to have ever dropped him with a LEFT HOOK in his amateur + pro boxing career combined, consisting of around 200 bouts. And that was the only legitimate knockdown Povetkin has ever suffered in his entire boxing career.

Now go back and have a look at the boxers that not only dropped, but stopped and totally demolished past short / small heavyweights like Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson. Which is far worse than Povetkin losing a shutout decision to Wladimir Klitschko and getting dropped by Wladimir Klitschko.

No other past short / small heavyweight, the same size as Povetkin or smaller, would've done any better against that version of Wladimir Klitschko that Povetkin faced, than Povetkin did against him.

And I didn't claim Povetkin would beat the elite super heavyweights of today like Joshua or Fury.

Actually there was you know and I’ve only thought this myself but David Haye a former cruiser weight who I’m sure is no taller than Povetkin lost to Wlad in a far more boring less dangerous manner than Povetkin but I take your point about the others sharing the same fate.

Povetkin obliterated Hasim Rahman.. Lewis was knocked out for the count by Rahman... Povektin >> Lewis.

MaCall flattened Lewis.. Franny Pianeta easily beat MaCall..... Pianeta >> Lennox Lewis

Andy Wawrzyk stopped Danny Williams in one round.. Williams knocked out Mike Tyson...
    Andrzej Wawrzyk > Mike Tyson

Light heavy weight Journeyman Shaun George demolished Chris Byrd.. Vitali lost to Byrd.
    Shuan George >> Vitali Klitschko

Povetkin's like an inferior Razor Ruddock of the division, same with Luis Ortiz. Got a great tally of beating top 10 or top 20 guys. But when it comes to beating the top guy. Ends up falling short. Time will tell if he can survive the bodybuilder's power. His chance of winning against Joshua, is less than it was Klitschsko. Price had him bambi legged.

Alexander Povetkin NEVER EVER lost to bums, journeymen or non ATG's. Whereas Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson have. Simply because Holyfield and Mike Tyson reside in a class below.

And lol at the Razor Ruddock comparisons. Razor Ruddock was stopped by David Jaco. Simply because he isn't on Povetkin's class. And he also lost to and was stopped by Tommy Morrison. Who himself was stopped by Michael Bentt. A 12 fight novice! Povetkin's on a totally different class compared to any of those guys.

I could care less if Povetkin was to lose to Anthony Joshua. That doesn't mean any of those past guys would have done any better. Tyson was KO'ed by a feather fisted Buster Douglas. Anthony Joshua would totally ruin Mike Tyson! Evander Holyfield also lost, every time he stepped up to fight the elite / top super heavyweights. Lost the trilogy to Riddick Bowe and lost both fights to Lennox Lewis. So there's no evidence he'd have done better against opponents Povetkin faced and the opponent he lost to (Wladimir Klitschko).
