Is prime Jack Sharkey a H2H menace?

    I think he would be an excellent cruiser weight today. May not be big enough for the modern heavyweight. He’s quick and athletic on film and moves his feet, and head really well. The guy has one of the greatest name resumes of all time. He’s like the 1920s version of Holyfield with the competition. How many guys can claim they fought:

    Joe Louis
    Jack Dempsey
    Harry Wills
    Max Schmeling
    Tommy Loughran
    George Godfrey
    Primo Carnera

    The problem with Sharkey, as I have observed before, is that he was almost a manic depressive fighter, in that you never knew how he would show up. But absolutely prime Sharkey would leave anyone knowing that they’d been in a fight even if they eventually took him out.
