Is Primo really less skilled then Vitali?

Vitali looks like Lurch from the Addams Family but he's super effective. His whole system of fighting has a method to the madness and his record bears it out. Carnera 'seems' to be more organised but he's not a natural like Vitali nor is he as effective. You can see he's been drilled but he always looks somewhat robotic and tentative like a newbie dancer muttering 1-2-3-1 ... 1-2-3-1 under their breath as they stagger across the dance floor

I tend to agree with your assessment. Vitali def had other attributes that helped him get by as well.

Vitali had an excellent judgement of distance.Carnera's was crap.

Yesss. That is correct. Most people see how ungainly he looked but he could make blows miss by a whisker and be ready to immediately counter attack with his arm punching style.

That never stops. At 97, I still miss mine, too.

Their styles had some similarities, but I think Vitali was harder to hit flush and tied a man up better.

That way, my world view would be proven correct, once again.

    Both look robotic to me.
Vitali just has a bit more depth and toughness about him.

I think both men depended on their size, once that failed Carnera as in the Baer fight he was toast. Vitali did too, used his size to control distance.
