Personally, I never thought of him as any better than Gatti, though that would mean he's probably still hall of fame bound.

Some great featherweights of the modern era:Alexis Arguello,Salvador Sanchez,Azumah Nelson,Erik Morales,Juan Manuel Marquez,Antonio Barrera,Manny Pacquiao. What do they all have in common? They were all much better than hamed.

maybe, but il love to have seen naz fight El Terrible.

Naz was a midget, stats say he's 5,4" but i say he's actually more closer to 5,2" lol . Morales was pretty big for a featherweight at 5,8" , funny fight seeing Naz jumping all over the place like a ****** boy trying to connect haha

Well said! I followed his career closely, went to most of his fights and even named my pet dog "Naz". But, the way he finished with boxing stiil leaves a bad taste in my mouth. There is no shame in losing a fight to an almost prime Barrera. What counts though is the way a fighter comes back from a loss. He maybe had the potential to re-focus and come back to be an all time great, but instead he looked at his swollen bank balance and realised he had made enough money. That is incredibly disrespectful to all the fans that made him rich and listened when he repeatedly said he would be a legend of the sport. I prayed for years that he would come back for one last greedy payday against a true legend like Morales. Though i am sure Eric would have destroyed him.

God no. He was purely hype. Imagine if Valero were to fight JMM right now and then lose miserably, throw in some magic carpets and flips into the ring and then you have Prince Naseem Hamed.
