Umberto Savigne(1-0, on the right side) vs Epifanio Mendoza(29-8-1).
Savigne outstanding Cuban amateur. Mendoza somebody who knows everything in professional boxing.

Hi Santiago, I have never seen Savigne, but I hear he was very good in Cuba. Who is the guy in the middle? Is it Despaigne? I think so...

I am really happy to see all of my Cuban boys fighting and stepping up their competition as well. No sense for such highly decorated amateurs fighting 3-4 guys, they all should be fighting 15-1 and 21-1 type of contenders just like Gamboa, Solis, Lara and the others have been doing!

Do you know just how good was Savigne back in Cuba? Do you know if he ever defeated any Cuban stars like Solis, Savon or was he from a lower weight class? I also hear that Sullivan Barrera is just awesome but have never seen him...

We have so many Cubans now in the pros that it's hard to keep track of all of them fighting! :good

Oh, I just saw the card. They all fight on Dec 4 in Miami...

I think, I have been most impressed with lightheavy Despaigne ( the one in the middle ) Yudel Jhonson is also very technical, experienced and is a southpaw but lacks some punching power I believe...but definitely can box anyone's ear off!!!

Holy ****, that's SOME step up! :yikes

Humberto Savigne was signed by Yuriorkis Gamboa for Ciclon Promotions. Nice kick-off, but its SOME test for the 2nd fight.

The only negative thing about Savigne is that he is already 30 years old and starting his pro career, also he is in a very bad division the Cruisers...

Damm, it takes so long for the Cubans to defect!

One of our best prospects is Cruiserweight contender Yunier Dorticos, he is only 24 years old I believe, is tall, southpaw and was World Amateur Champion. I saw his debut and looked very professional, technical and with power. He should go a very long way considering his tender age of 24!

That's the right age to start boxing not 30! But hey, the majority of the times the Cubans arrive here very late in their life but let's see how far Savigne and the others around 30 years old can accomplish! Not everyone is Hopkins ( age 45 and still beating top contenders )...

Just look at Casamayor at age 38 ( which I consider still kinda young ) is already washed up and fighting at a mere 40 % of what he had in his prime years! You see, the Cuban defectors all have around 250 to 350 Amateur bouts and have been fighting since 6 or 7 years old, this is why they have a lot of mileage compared to other fighters of their age! This is why they have to speed up their pro careers ALA Gamboa, Solis, Rigondeaux because when they reach around 35 or 36 years old is almost over for them as they lose about 50% of their technical and physical capabilities! :good

i see that this savigne fellow is a cruiserweight. mendoza has done his best work at 168-175lbs. he doesn't belong up at cruiserweight.

And he's facing another really good fighter tomorrow. Page has a deceivingly bad record, but he's a solid fighter.
