I voted no. He needs a bit more than a win over Steve Collins imo.
Shame he couldnt get the chance to fight the other guys around.

If Kostya Tszyu can make the HOF I don't see why Johnson can't.

Hell no. Even if you think he won both Castro fights and the Toney fight, he'd still be borderline.

His controversial losses may keep him out.

    Hard to say.
Of his loses, the only loss that was truely without question.(A fight a lot of Jones haters overlook).

The 2 Castro losses(BOTH in Argentina), Toney, and Jackson were all borderline if not outright robberies, if you believe those involved, and who saw the fights.

Nothing against Johnson who I like as a fighter, but if he entered the hall it would open the floodgates for a cavalcade of fighters on a similar level from the era, like Kalambay, Nunn, Benn, Eubank and Collins.

For all the talk of robberies, probably only the second Castro fight falls into this category. The others were close nip and tuck fights, which Johnson's style often led to.

A very good fighter and one of the more underrated wins on Jones' resume, but he wasn't a "great" fighter.

The Jackson fight was close, but the only person I've ever heard calling it a robbery is Reggie Johnson. I've heard the Castro decisions were bad, but that's not really enough. From what I've heard of the Toney fight, it was a close one but most people thought that Toney won and the main argument as to why Johnson should have won is that Johnson knocked him down. I think the Tarver loss was quite clear as well notwithstanding the unduly close scores.

And at the end of the day, he lost the fights, fair or not. It's not like he didn't get the benefit of a few decisions where he was the hometown guy and squeaked out a narrow decision. And going 1 - 6 against top level fighters doesn't earn anyone a spot in the hall.

    No way HOF.

The 2nd Castro fight was highway robbery..can't remember the first.

He was a very good fighter at middle..His first clear cut loss would have to be against Jones.

if he were a brit, he'd be in the hall. the way some people talk about collins here, you'd think that would be enough to get in on its own.

Could be argued that the ONLY clear cut loss on the record was Jones.

Im not saying he won the others, but they were at least highly competitive
