I'm a big Burns fan but he's nowhere near the HOF. He is still young though and improving all the time, it's just a pity he wasted a year of his prime fighting Evensen, Laryea and Cook.

Funny that Frank was moaning about not enough tickets being shifted for his 130lbs defences at the Braehead Arena, and this one has either sold out or is close to it. It's not simply because he's moved up in weight - it's because folk can see the difference in quality from Evensen, Laryea & Cook to Katsidis & Moses.

Looking forward to tomorrow night. Isn't going to be an easy fight for Ricky, but I expect him to win on points.

I love the way people are saying "this won't be easy for Ricky" so they can come in here tomorrow and spout bollocks about how great Burns is when it looks like a walk in the park...

it will be easy, very easy, i think Moses would be a rather easy fight for any top 20 fighter.

Moses was not that good in the first place and to me this just smacks of a fighter who has come for a payday.

Yep. I'm only saying I think Moses will give him problems so I can big Burns up tomorrow night. That's why Billy Nelson's had a go at me more than once on here for criticising Burns' soft opposition and for him not facing his mandatory in Broner prior to the Katsidis fight, or for him not defending against a decent super featherweight in general.

Moses is miles better than the other guys being linked to this fight like Matthews, Rees and Crolla. I've got no idea why he smacks you as a "fighter that has come for a payday" as he's travelled to the backyard of a champion in the past and was there to win and did.

  5. What Allegedly struggles to work out is that people aren't ******s.

The Laryea fight was the worst, seeing a guy beat an unfocused, completely crap on the night Appleby, they aren't going to buy into him fighting Burns, who'd recently handled a hard punching champion (albeit an overrated one in hindsight) in Martinez.

Likewise Evensen, I mean.... Norway or wherever he was from is hardly a hot bed of pro boxing. They could have got a Mexican bantamweight or something and done better business. At least he sounds hard.

Hope so, but doubt it at this stage...But ive doubted slick Rick before.

He's a two weight WC right now, chances are he is going to be in higher divisions as his career progresses, 3 weight WC a minimum for me to even be in with a shout of HOF.

Good luck Ricky, with that an tmorra.

I know there's a good chance Kevin Mitchell is Burns' next challenger if he beats Moses tomorrow night, but after that fight who do you reckon is a potential challenger? (I reckon Burns beats Mitchell...)

From those WBO rankings I suspect it'd be Gavin Rees tbh. I'd love to see a fight with Sharif Bogere, but it's Frank so I'm always sceptical...

I'm a fan of Burns, always want to see him do well

But there is absolutely zero chance he gets anywhere near the hall of fame.

When Mitchell beat johannson I thought he'd wipe the floor with burns, but things have changed burns has improved **** loads, Mitchell looked good beating Prescott and then went downhill until he pulled one out the bag against Murray. At the moment I have burns beating Mitchell on points comfortably.

    Exactly!

@ OP -Is Ricky lost or something?

Kid is massively overrated and needs to step up his competition.

Broner would of toyed with him.

Of course, after disposing of Moses and Mitchell in devastating fashion he'll clean out the division by beating Vazquez and DeMarco, skip 140 because there's nothing there to challenge him, then at 147 he'll beat Khan, Brook and Ortiz before taking Floyd's 0 and retiring an ATG.

    Of course..... :hey

I don't consider him a two weight world champion, but I doubt he cares what I think. It clearly means something to him though and that's good to see. I'm not going to hold my breath that Ricky will be in a position at any point to prove he's the best at 135lbs. Nothing to do with him as a fighter, but such is the politics of boxing promotion. I think he's got the potential - if that's the right word - to have a good run at 135lbs and go down as one of the best Scottish boxers of recent times.
