 which Scots have pussied out of fights?

Burns is getting disappointing, but it's still a long way short of Hatton's ducking of Junior Witter.

Burns is earning decent money right now, regardless of Broner. It is complete nonsense to suggest Broner is a star - he just isn't. He isn't a draw, he can't sell tickets, he doesn't drive ratings - he's simply another Haymon-manufactured noise who will lose against the first decent opponent he faces. Oh wait, he already did!

These debates are one of the reasons I get ****ed off with ESB. People recreate reality to suit some idiotic agenda - "Broner's the star" - what's that got to do with anything? So Ricky, a champion at two weights, has to concede everything to him?

Broner is not a star, except in manufactured land, where people also thought Chad Dawson was a star.

You do not know what Burns was offered, or if an offer was even made. If the offer was insultingly low (very likely where GBP is involved), should Ricky take it just to appease your hurt fanboy feelings?

Gamboa? Seriously? GAMBOA? Yeah, that's a MUCH better fight. Another guy who sells no tickets and has pretty much arrived at the exact level I always knew he would - nothing special.

And he's tiny too. If Burns is available to fight and Broner chooses Gamboa, it will be pretty clear he never really wanted the fight. Hopefully you'll all apply the same criticism to him at that stage.

But you won't. Cause you're ****ing twats.

What is it with boxing fans and getting a serious rock on for any mouth almighty American with an undefeated record that's backed by HBO?

More wank - Brook just didn't want to fight a guy who would have beaten him out of sight. That was the bottom line, nothing to do with the IBF.

Well, there seems to be some debate on that. No offer was made, they had an initial discussion where Burns asked for £400,000 after tax. Schaefer said they weren't prepared to pay that.

What's Broner going to be getting?

Taylor, Berto, Alexander, now Broner. Broner is alarmingly like Berto.

    @DFTaylor.

Broner is the star mate, whether its in manufactured land or not. He's the one with the HBO hype machine behind him. (& that's worth something whether you like it or not)

If Broner is a **** as everyone makes out on here, why doesn't Ricky take the opportunity to beat him before someone else does?

At the end of the day, Billy Nelson pretty much said Burns wasn't going to take the fight in Febuary no matter what. I find that Dissapointing. Is that allowed?

I haven't abused Ricky or Billy, I haven't been rude or anything. I've just expressed my dissapointment & surprise at the decision.... How does that make me a ****ing twat?

Perception is not reality. Broner is not in any way, shape or form a star. Stars are guys like Manny P, Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather, David Haye, the Klitschkos, etc.

These guys sell out arenas and stadiums regardless of who they fight (well, not so much Floyd), and generate huge TV audiences on the back of their stardom. Broner doesn't.

He's not even at Andre Ward level - hell, he's not even at Devon Alexander level. His career trajectory is alarmingly similar to Andre Berto, who also received similar hype, and everyone knows how he turned out.

I don't think Broner's ****, he's just nothing special. And he's been fairly clearly beaten once already.

That's not quite what Billy said, is it? If GBP had made an offer in line with what Burns asked for, and he still turned it down, you'd have a point.

It doesn't (although you are a bit of a twat ;) ), and my response was more to the people claiming Broner is some monster when he's fighting Gavin ****ing Rees!

You haven't answered my question by the way.... We all knew Brook's path, what's Ricky's?

Seeing as Hearn was happy to throw Barker in with Martinez, and to a lesser extent Rees with Broner..... I'm pretty sure if Brook had nowhere else to go he'd have thrown him in with Bradley.

I dont understand why we dont hear Boner or Burns whacking on about Vazquez, he's the real challenge....Maybe both of them should hand back the straps :thumbsup

So he's happy to fight the weaker of the two fighters out there? Sounds like a duck.

Ricky clearly feels he can get other fights and that the Broner fight will still be on the table. I'm not Ricky, neither are you. I'm sure they didn't just decide it wasn't worth it.

It's worth the wait if they get purse parity (which Burns deserves).

Frank really underestimates Ricky, he's a very good fighter and has a great chance of beating Broner.

It's such a shame he's with frank, potentially he could be the champion at 135 and go down as one of the great Scottish fighters.
