This is getting a little out of hand guys...I mean as I write this 16 people actually somehow think Hatton deserves to be ranked inside the top 100 fighters of ALL TIME. That is so absurd it makes my brain hurt.

Just as a quick example these are the last 5 placed fighters in The Rings Top 80 fighters of the last 80 years. (Now this list has some major flaws but all in all it is fairly solid and not a bad guide)

    75.Oscar De La Hoya
    76.Carlos Zarate
    77.Marcel Cerdan
    78.Flash Elorde
    79.Mike McCallum
    80.Harold Johnson

Do you mean to tell me that Hatton is within 20-25 places of these guys??

I can name at least 20 fighters who could make the 100 in front of Hatton in that time period. Hell even 30, probably 40 and with some research I could probably go even further. And dont forget there are a ton of fighters who fought prior to 1922 and after 2002 that would have pushed a lot of those guys back further giving Ricky an even smaller chance of getting anywhere near the top 100 of ALL TIME.

I would not be suprised if all the people who voted yes couldnt even name 100 fighters.

Whatarock makes a good point with the top 80 ring magazine fighters of the last 80 years. I did the same thing and went back to check on their rankings, and there's no way Hatton is up there with Marcel Cerdan (77) or Carlos Zarate (76). In Bert Sugar's book he lists the 100 greatest boxers of all time - here are the last 10 -
    90. Aaron Pryor
    91. Bernard Hopkins
    92. Mike Gibbons
    93. Jack Delaney
    94. Johnny Kilbane
    95. Willie Ritchie
    96. Wilfredo Benitez
    97. Packey McFarland
    98. Rocky Graziano
    99. Lew Jenkins
    100. Mike Tyson

Would I rate Hatton over any of those fighters? Well, I don't think Lew Jenkins deserves to be in the top 100, but we all know how Bert Sugar feels about old fighters. Anyway, I don't see Hatton measuring up around these guys. I'd say probably 130-140 all time.

    Agreed.

    Not a top 100 fighter.

He'd be lucky to break into the top 30 or 40 from the last twenty years.

With so many ridiculously biased Brits on this board, I am not suprised at the amount of votes for yes.

Hard to say, he hasnt been dominant over the contenders he has faced that is the only thinjg that is putting me off.

I think if he carries on like he did in the PM fight, he will shock alot more poeple, but he needs to make 140 HIS division, I dont think he has ruled the light welers with a iron fist the way tszyu and Pryor did, even if the competition is similar to theirs.

Haven't got a clue. But by the reaction of a lot you guys i'm guessing no way in hell. But if he makes the right fight's for the next 3-4 years and does well then maybe he'd have a case? Some decent fighters at 140 and maybe if he had another crack at 147.
