Is Ricky Hatton H.O.F worthy?

I would say YES (British HOF)
But as it stands now NO @ International level.

 

I think if he unifies with Bradley and Kotelnik - not huge fights granted but WBA-WBC-IBF unification - definately puts him in the hall, and he would go down as a truly great LWW. I dont even like the guy, but you have to be fair hre he has won a lot of titles.

Alternatively, he could face Malignaggi and then Pac, then retire (this seems more likely) If he does win both these fights, then I suppose he sneaks in. But I think becoming undipsuted at 140 is more historical, he wont go down as a great P4P fighter in the sense that he was good in multiple divisions, he will go down as a great light welter. Unifying all the titles does a lot for that status.

fight, but I feel it should be mentioned because it was a unification fight. Hatton unified the IBF and WBA belts. True unification!

 

I suppose it should because of that fact - but for me his wins over Vince Phillips and Ben Tackie are higher quality.

 

Excluding him from the British H.O.F. would be a bit harsh.

 

Ricky Hattons best wins in no order and in class of opponent.

Stephen Smith - Good C class quality domestic fighter who had a 31-1-0 when Ricky faced him.

Giuseppe Lauri - Very good European fighter with a bit of a padded record but Hatton got him early when he was 19-1 and he's still going. He's a c+ fighter

Jonathan Thaxton - The man Amir Khan is supposed to be ducking still top class domestically and winning fights always gets shown up against B+ opponents like Romanov but still a very good win early on. C +/B opponent.

Jason Rowland - C fighter was good domestically.

Justin Rowsell - C- Fighter who knocked out people for fun in Australia

Freddie Pendletan - Was on the verge of winning world titles long career with some good wins on it Ricky faced him when he was probably shot but still B - Opponent

Vince Phillips - B - again some good wins for instance Kostya Tyzu among others.

Aldo Rios - C/B Good boxer who seems to lose when put in with top class opponents still going strong however, may face Amir Khan next.

Ben Tackie - B - wins some/loses some but NEVER gets knocked out one of the best chins in boxing, and some good wins on his resume

Dennis Holbaek Pedersen - Solid B- level fighter winning European honours, padded record however.

Eamon Magee - C level but had some power when Ricky faced him he was in his prime.

Ray Oliveira - C level but had a decent career.

Kostya Tszyu - A*/A level this guy was a P4P king and seemingly he won this against all odds

Jose Luis Castillo - A - Another great win on the resume

Juan Urango - I'll put this down as a B+ Urango will win a world title and has HUGE power and is still improving.

Lazcano - Solid B level fighter.

Collazo - B level

Maussa - C Level one lucky win in his career.

I'd say Ricky needs one or 2 more bigfights then he's HOF.

 

I would rate Magee and Olivera above Pedersen.

Magee was a good fighter with a big heart - Pedersen was a punching bag superfeather.

 

yeah i'd say so....he's beat a few good names at 140

but on another note, i'm 100% sure he's not capable of unifying the titles at 140

 

It would be near damn impossible anyway - with guys hiding behind belts these days rather than looking to unify.....

If Hatton hadn't moved up in weight to fight p4p no1 Floyd; he'd be 43-0 right now. Personally I don't give a huge amount of credit to unbeaten records, but a lot of people appear to; sadly, and wrongly, he'd probably be getting more respect if he was 43-0. Hattons still undefeated at 140.

 

If he had stayed with Frank Warren he would be 49-0, having made defences of the IBF title. No unification fights though.

If he had avoided Mayweather he would be 45-0 and accused of ducking.

 

If it were my choice he wouldn't be getting in, unfortunately it isn't and he'll most likely be inducted at some stage. He's had a good career yes, however in my view his resume is relatively weak and H2H I don't see him beating many (if any) great 140lbers. Honestly who would favour prime hatton over a prime Pryor, Benitez or Locche.

At the end of the day H2H is pure conjecture. If we could all get H2H's right we would all be multi millionaires off betting.
