Since scoring a four-round unanimous decision over Sammy Yniguez in his professional debut on the Andre Ward-Rubin Williams undercard in March of 2008, I had high hopes for super bantamweight Rico Suavecito Ramos [18-0, 10 KOs] of Pico Rivera, California. In that off-television bout in San Jose, Ramos outworked his opponent like he was an established veteran. He mixed his punches up well and had very advanced footwork for having just celebrated his 21st birthday. Rico Ramos was a very good amateur, winning the 2007 National PAL championship before falling just short of making the Olympic team for Beijing.
