Not that he has achieved the status of being an all time great but is he truly a special type of talent that didn't get many tests during his career?

Leo Santa Cruz said he'd need over Several million to even consider fighting Rigo so there's that.

I think so but that sweet spot where ability meets opportunity just hasn't materialized for him yet.

    Great talent for sure.

Let's not forget he won his gold medals in 2000 & 2004 so it was a long time ago.

Too old, too small & too inactive to be competitive against Loma, but yes he was a special talent.

Really needed to be turned loose after the Donaire fight but presumably wasn't due to perceived marketability issues.

definitely. All the Loma ball gobblers are celebrating and gloating because a prime pound for pound guy came across a smaller guy who is probably in his 40s already. Rigondeaux's prime was probably the Ramos and Donaire fights, as far as athleticism. People say Hopkins was in his prime against Trinidad. I disagree, Hopkins prime was probably done by the time he was 36, if you are looking at his athleticism in the ring.

lol is this even a question? Open your eyes. He's the most skilled boxer I've ever seen.

OP changed title from Loma to Rigo.

Rigo is an ATG talent too, tho.

ATG talent, yes. But he wasted his career by making dumb decisions, so he didn't bring most out of his talent in the pros just like many Cuban boxers.

    Yes he was.

If you can't get inside him you can't beat him.
