Moving up in weight means he will no longer carry the natural advantages he once had, for a guy like rios does that mean big trouble? Also the dramatic fashion in which he cuts weight could have a drastic effect on his body i.e. before the Murray fight he ate on sunday, and didn't eat again til after the weigh in. The body put in this position starts to cannobolise itself in order to survive..
I don't think he can beat Matthysse or Garcia (maybe) but Alvarado and Maidana are good opponents for Rios. He has slightly more skills than Alvarado which can at least make it a very competitive fight.
lets see how he does at the weight first. he's got a tough challenge in front of him but, alvarado is a style that will suit him. he'll be right in front of him. plus, i think mike is a bit overrated. he was getting bust up easily by prescott until he ran out of steam. i'm not ready to write rios off until i see what he's capable of at light welter.
Like Rios to win this fight and if he were to lose who cares the guy comes to fight and never takes an easy fight, and always gives 110% .....
Prescott is tough though..hits decently hard and has an awkward rangy style... (something Rios himself would probaly have trouble with).. but his one weakness as was shown is he gasses out... The way Mike defends himself by turning his head in a Mayweather type stance will be a big factor I think... Don't like it.. very static.
