...when he says that Pac wouldn't fight Floyd or Margarito at 147? It crossed my mind that perhaps PAC enjoys being the underdog. There were plenty of doubters that thought while he would beat David Diaz, he wouldn't dominate him, and honestly I don't think I've heard one person in my waking life who's a boxing fan that picked PAC to TKO Oscar. And you can't honestly tell me that Oscar wasn't physically ready for PAC because he trained his ass off and the determination on his face before the fight was no Hollywood act. Oscar is a stringent business man who doesn't make mistakes. However, he made a huge miscalculation with PAC. I don't see what would make Freddy Roach say that PAC wouldn't fight Floyd at 147 considering that there couldn't have been too much difference between the Oscar that fought Floyd and the Oscar that fought PAC. It's just that PAC is a completely different fighter than Floyd who brings the fight to his opponent, but in bursts, while Floyd prefers to fight going backwards. If Hatton, who in my opinion is much less tallented than PAC as far as speed, precision, experience, competition, burst, and elusiveness is concerned, could hang with Floyd for about 8 rounds before he started getting his ass handed to him, I don't see why PAC wouldn't be able to give Floyd one hell of a fight and possibly beat him. ****, PAC barely got tagged against Oscar, is 29 years old looking prime, and Floyd is 30, but took a year off from boxing. While I can only dream, I would love for this fight to happen because Floyd would be forced to fight, as it's doubtful that he could win 12 rounds by merely backing up and playing defense. PAC is too relenteless and much faster and sharper than Oscar than when Oscar fought Floyd. PAC is also not prone to fading in the later rounds and to throw in another intangible, he's a southpaw, but unlike Judah who was hesitant and often on the defensive, PAC will bring the fight to Mayweather for 12 rounds, but he'll do it intelligently. PAC is a master of effective aggression and it's due mainly to his ability to be patient in the ring. So while there might be more lulls in the fight when he's in there with Floyd because Floyd is the naturally bigger man and will be much less apt to bring the fight to PAC, Floyd will also find it frusterating because PAC is a multidimensional fighter with great speed. Anyway..........I think Roach might be ****in around which was my main point. Besides, this post is likely irrelevent because I doubt that Floyd will come out of retirement...and I don't blame him. I would just like to see the fight.
if floyd happens to just pop out of retirement to fight pacquio then we'll all know the sport is a rigged game ... and alot of the pagentry and history behind it will be looked at with the largest spectacles availble
Floyd will come out as soon as PacMan beats Hatton in a much more brutal and devastating fashion...because Floyd Sr. is training him...Once Floyd's money ticket fighter goes to **** against the Pacman...he'll start calling on his son to fight him cuz apparently no one can beat him Floyd will be smart enough to take a reasonable tune-up fight with either someone from 140 or 147...my guess...Tim Bradley or Andre Berto While that tune-up fight is going on Pac will have his trilogy with JMM and beat him much quicker and more convincingly... After both fighters have their successes...the showdown will commence IF Pacman wins he'll retire IF PBF wins...he'll either retire or go on to fight one of the top tier WW...and then retire Either way...we'll have an Top 15 (or even higher) ATG in the making here
Floyd likely comes back for Pacquiao. De La Hoya and Hatton possibly fool the world with a "mega-fight" of their own.
Because Roach is smart.... 147... however pac looked against hoya, is not his weight class, and him matching up with the guys who train their asses off to get to it (margarito, williams) is beyond not fair, let alone true 147 fighters like clottey, cotto, ect.... Mayweather is super comfortable at 147lbs... and Roach knows this. Fighting Margarito is just idiotic. When 1 aspect within a fight is changed.... is changes everything. A fight against Hoya at this stage, where hoya rarely threw, rarely landed, and didnt do much of anything, show me NOTHING.... was it an awsome awsome win? Yes... but the only thing i learned from it is that Pac retains more speed and energy then i thought he would.... but when he fights an elite, prime 147lber who will be there to fight him and actually do it... it changes everything, and roach knows this. Pac needs to fight Hatton and go back down to 135
Perhaps a fight against Margarito would be pushing it, but Floyd is not a big welter, nor an aggressive fighter. I don't see how 147 would be much of a factor, especially considering Floyd isn't a puncher in this weight class. As far as Manny is concerned, his speed against De La Hoya was great as he appeared to be just as fast as ever and his power was evident from the bruises all over De La Hoya's face. And as far as Mayweather using his size against PAC, it's doubtful. If you can remember, even when De La Hoya began to slow down in the fight against Mayweather, Roger Mayweather urged his nephew to "whup his ass," but Floyd was reluctant to let his hands go. And I understand that many here compare Ricky to PAC, but I believe PAC to be a sharper, more explosive fighter, who's better schooled and uses aggressive in and out boxing, utilizing combinations and especially attacks to the body, while Hatton didn't have the schooling, nor the speed, and his game plan relied on smothering his opponent to wear them down, rather than beating them up. This is definitely a winnable fight for PAC and I think it would be beneficial for the fight to take place at 147 for PAC for the factor's that have been mentioned. Margarito may be too big and resiliant, but as far as what Roach is saying about never fighting Floyd at 147, I think it's BS. Floyd's not a puncher and PAC has his speed. It's damn close to a 50/50 fight.
I thought he would win, but I didn't think he would whup the **** out of Diaz, barely get touched, and convince Diaz' trainer that he would beat De La Hoya, who was one of the two out of about 20 guys that thought PAC would win that the RING interviewed. The other guy that thought he would win was Bradley.
why cant pacman and mayweather fight at a catchweight of lets say 143 ?lets face it who gives a **** about belts it would be a super fight of mammoth proportions that everyone would love to see.the two best pfp boxers on the planet finding who really is number one!
why 147 or even a catchweight when mayweather can easily make 140. mayweather is about 1.5 inches taller than pac man and has a 5 inch reach advantage, yet he isn't a big framed fighter like say, clottey etc. mayweather pacman needs to be at 140. if floyd tries to get the fight at 147 then i will think floyd is conserned about his chances. if floyd agrees to most of pac's demands since pacman is hot at the moment while floyd has been retired (and not an exciting draw to boot), then that indicates he is suprememly confident he knows how to dismantle pacman. but if floyd tries to make it at 147, then i reckon he has some doubts and wants every advantage possible. 147 would suit floydd far more than pacman.
yeah fair enough im just saying if floyd wants to fight at 147 they could negotiate its only a few pounds.
They will make the fight soon enough I think. I suspect next month we will hear about a date.. Mayweather has to get in shape and get sharp again. Look what not fighting for a year did to Hagler when he fought Mugabi after Hearns. He was not sharp at all.
