ur an idiot...have u ever boxed or played any sport...roadwork is HUGE...clottey zab and ouma do not have **** poor conditioning...zab is just mentally weak while clottey and ouma can fight forever...WTF? lol overrated haha
Though I haven't played lately, during periods when I play underwater hockey once or twice a week, my overall conditoning is always much better.
Roadwork is important for maintaining weight, but aerobic conditioning isn't a huge factor in boxing. Anaerobic conditioning is much more important for the sort of short, intense bursts of action that happen in boxing. One long run a week, coupled with the natural aerobic benefits of gym time, are plenty for a boxer.
No it is not overrated. It is vital. Only these fat boy heavyweights of today neglect to do it. Roadwork is very important for stamina and assists a fighter trying to make weight.
I agree...but u have to run....short and fast a few times and long a few times...explosive workouts are great esp for amateur but still roadwork is far from OVERRATED
I know Juan Diaz does absolutely no running. he gets all of his endurance from swimming and the stairmaster
you are right once again my friend. Are u a personal trainer because I have read your stuff before and you are ALWAYS right on target!!:good:good:good:good:good
Agreed. Road work is very useful for fighters, since your legs are the first thing to go when you're getting tired, but sparring is king! Before a fight my trainer has me do ten 8-10 round sparring sessions followed by and a little mit work. The combination is brutal and is far more intense than any running that I do. I think the more time you actually spend in the ring with lots of movement and punches the better your fight conditioning will be.
I don't think MMA fighters do much roadwork and sprinting (judging by their bodies), and alot of them tend to gas out pretty easily. Roadwork is essential for endurance in a sport like boxing. Is there a fighter out there that doesn't do roadwork?
no more "running like a mule for mile after mile after mile. Now its mixed up with sprints.... uphill sprints.... timed running (track) and swimming. Manny is always trying to keep up with new methods and training.
Do you know the difference between aerobic and anaerobic activity...? You can run for 30 miles but you can never sprint for 3 minutes... The same rules apply for boxing...
