Is 25 mins a good time for a 5k run?

I generally do one 5 mile run a week which is pretty flat apart from a steep 100m climb at the halfway point and usually average about 8 mins 20 per mile.

I'll be happy if it is because I've always thought my runnings been **** when I've compared it to mates who've been training for 10k runs etc.

8:20/1Mile is 25 minutes for 3 miles, 5Km is 3.1miles so ye 25minutes for 5K is pretty decent

Personally I hate running, so I tend to just do bag work or use a rowing machine instead where others maybe would run..And I feel like I have a pretty decent level of stamina

You prefer a rower to running?!

Rowing machines are hell on earth as far as I'm concerned. Feel like death after using one.

True mate! Must admit it's a buzz at the end when you've done it.

Hope I've still got the gym record!!! :D

    Short answer: No

When I do run I like to run around, and up mountains. I never run a set pace though. Sometimes I'll jog for 10 minutes, then walk a few, then sprint up the hill, then walk, then sprint up a hill, then jog a little more. You get the idea. Like others have said already. It's nice to incorporate it into your workout just for the fact of it being different. It also feels damn good to run hard. I think it sort of wakes your body up and resets it for lack of a better word.

well if like ray leonard you skip around the ring circling around all fight, then this sort of work is great same sort of cardiovascular work. but throwing punches is different it never hurts to have a good aerobic base.

why my posts not going up? :p
i think roadwork helps when moving around the ring like say ray leonard to circle the ropes for long fights. its great to have an aerobic base, but sprinting in short bursts is similar to punching in bunches.

You don't have to run to build the aerobic system. So "roadwork" is not very important, training the aerobic system in some way is.
