    IMHO

Duran is certainly an elite alltime great. He should be in everyone`s top 10P4P. Where you have him after that may vary.

I love Duran he is one of my favorite fighters but If you have him #1 or #2 I think that is a bit too high. So yeah it is possible to be a tad overated but still be great.

In terms of what he accomplished, no.
In terms of fantasy matchups at 154 and above, yes.

Yeah, but he'd still kill, probably literally, Tony Ayala.

He defeated Leonard then he got his big payday, seemed to have lost interest and took a dive.
In his last fight with Leonard he tried to outbox him, despite his training having told him he should do what he did in the first fight.

His mind was long gone after the first Leonard fight.

    Through 1978,

Possibly the greatest Lightweight of 'all-time',

If he retired after defeating Esteban De Jesus the 'second time', he would have
been labeled easily as one to the Top 10 Greatest Fighters of All-Time.

Even though he has the most annoying fanboys of any fighter, I can't say he's overrated. Fantastic fighter, and I can see him among the top p4p ever. Definitely top 10. The greatest of the fab four.

Like Ali,he seems to get penalised by some for being too 'mainstream'
