I was a fan of the sport of boxing when your mom was still changing your diapers. Marciano has *never* faced anyone even approaching the speed and reflexes of Roy Jones jr. And yes, Marciano was SLOW and CLUMSY. How do I know? That's exactly what the sportswriters of Marciano's day said of him. You don't have to take my word for it. Go watch the films...

I disagree. The punchers from the golden era didn’t have less or more power than the punchers of today.

Either you have power or you don’t. Knockout Punchers aren’t created, they are born with heavy hands.

I actually think the guys back then were tougher. They had more grit and fought with more conviction. Archie was 39 when he lost to Rocky and Ezzard was 33. Charles, Moore, Louis and Walcott are all time greats and Rocky beat them all by Knockout. Those same guys would be champions today, as would Rocky.

Louis was 37, Charles was 33, Moore was 39 and Walcott was 38. Bowe is not an ATG like Louis, Walcott, Charles and Moore are. The Bowe and Tyson wins are great for Holyfield’s legacy but they are not better than Marciano’s victories. Had Holyfield beat Tyson in 89 or 88....That victory would have been a lot more meaningful Because Tyson is an ATG but post jail and after Cus died, Mike was never the same

Moore was an Ole man as were Louis and Walcott. Charles was a former 160lb'er. Marciano beat ZERO heavyweights of any notoriety while they were still in their prime...

Ok chief. I’ve forgotten more about the sweet science than you will ever learn or comprehend in 2 lifetimes. Pipe down and take notes instead of getting exposed and into your feelings. A prime Louis does beat Rocky.....but not Jack. But I said 175 or 190 eras....Louis and Johnson were heavyweights their entire careers. So bringing them into the fold for this part of my post only exposes you and how little you know about this sport.

Louis was an OLE man who retired immediately after the Marciano beating. Mike Tyson beating Larry Holmes was a better win.

Charles was 2-2 in his last 4 having lost back to back to the likes of Nino Valdez and Harold Johnson.

Moore was an OLE light heavyweight.

Walcott was an OLE man who was 2-2 in his last 4 and retired immediately after the Marciano beatings.

Bowe was undefeated and in his prime when Holyfield beat him. Exactly WHO were the prime undefeated fighters Marciano beat?

    Yeah, they were...

LMAO, but you hold up the Walcott and Louis wins as some kind of great accomplishment on Marciano's resume. It's obvious that YDKSAB. Louis and Walcott were SHOT to pieces by the time Marciano got his hands on them.

    LMAO.

    YDKSAB

Nat Fleischer regards Jack Johnson as the Greatest Heavyweight to have ever lived. You do know who Nat Fleischer is, right? Jack Johnson was Muhammad Ali before there was a Muhammad Ali. Speaking of Ali, he's also on record as having said that Johnson was the Greatest Heavyweight ever. Not my words. HIS.

Jack Johnson would have taken Marciano to SCHOOL then mopped the floor with him all on the same night...

Moore was older, but he fought at a high level for years after losing to Rocky and won and defended the light heavyweight crown for years afterwards. He had 40+ fights after getting knocked out by Marciano. Walcott was a force even at that stage of his career at heavyweight. Charles didn’t fight at 160 for a long time kid. 1942 was the last time he was a middleweight. He was a light heavyweight and heavyweight longer than he was a middleweight. Holyfield didn’t beat a prime Mike Tyson. He did beat a prime Bowe, but Riddick isn’t an ATG...he’s not even in the hall of fame Chief. You’re struggling

Mike beating Larry was not a better win than Rocky beating Louis. Holmes was retired 2 years before coming back to fight Mike with no tune up. You’re f*ckin’ silly with that sh*t. Lol

Louis retired because Rocky retired him. He had only 2 losses and Joe wasn’t in his prime, but he was the 2nd beat heavyweight at that time.

Charles lost two but beat Corey Wallace and Bob Satterfield, another ATG by KO before fighting Marciano.

Moore was older but still was a top light heavyweight. He even bounced back and became undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world after the loss to Rocky and fought 40 more times only losing a few fights. 2 of the loses came at the hands of Floyd Patterson and Ali

Bowe was a very good win for Holyfield but let’s be real....he’s not a hall of fame boxer and definitely not an ATG. There were few boxers in the golden era that were undefeated because they fought so frequently and fought the best. Unlike the way it’s been for the last 30 years

Louis and Walcott are great wins for Rocky. They definitely were not prime when Marciano beat them by knockout but they were not shot to pieces like say. Before Rocky both men were winning more fights than they were losing.

I hope you are taking mental notes Chief....matter of fact. Write this stuff down because this is a free education in the sweet science that I’m providing. It feels good to give back

I know who Fleischer is. Jack was a great heavyweight but he was still fighting at a time where the sweet science was still evolving from a technical and skills perspective. Lol. You know absolutely nothing about the history of Boxing kid. Jack dominated and changed the sport because he was far more skillful than anyone in his era. But he set in motion the evolution of the sweet science that created the golden era of Boxing where fighters shed the antiquated style that was very ineffective to what we see in Boxing from the early 20th century on

Kovalev might outbox Marciano......up until Marciano brutally ko's him. Archie Moore would do the same.

That's what I was thinking. I don't think RM gets by Holyfield at 190.

I think people tend to forget Rocky's size. So, for example, when fighting Holyfield he would be giving up 4 1/2 inches in height and 10 inches in reach. Let me repeat that. 10"!

You could throw in Deontay Wilder there as well.
