We pretty much agree on this.

    He was a marvelous fighter.

This is the greatest victory that the anti Marciano posters have ever attained!

They have finally produced a pro Marciano troll!

Hitherto, this was their department alone!

How much better was it, when the trolls were all on the other side!

I've been on here since '05 and the above has been my opinion most of the time.

Yes, there are a number of guys who would give him trouble at his own weight. Hell, he fought a number of guys at his own weight who gave him all kinds of trouble.

I think his scant dimensions really cause problems as he moves up against bigger and bigger opponents of quality. For instance, I don't think he lasts 12 against Lewis as Tua did.

Rocky is limited to less Head to Head wins because he in particular was limited in so many ways that a great showdown could finish him as a fighter even if he won. As a one fight deal I give him an excelent chance against the very best but for only one fight with any real confidence.

In life I think Marciano took it as far as it goes, there was not much left. And that is not the case with a lot of all timers. ALI, Louis, Dempsey, Holmes the Klit brothers were much better athletes who were always going to be great for longer. You could pick all of those with a lot more confidence over a more varied bunch of great fighters than you could with Rocky.

So no, marciano, (like Frazier did) may very well be capable on his very best night to achieve the unbelievable ...but it would break him. For that reason there are a lot better head to head champions

Marciano was great! Of that there is no doubt, but I can't see him defeating the likes of Wlad, Lewis, Vitali, Foreman, prime Tyson.

Far more interested in match ups of Rocky vs Prime Louis, prime Tunney, Schmeling, Ali and Liston.
