RG was taken into deep waters by Estrada and won, but just barely. RG was asking for 1 million for the rematch initially, but has since raised that figure to 2 million. Do you think RG is ducking Estrada?

    Na, mate. Not that simple.

    1) He's working on big plans to move up to 115, either the WBC route (Cuadras) or Inoue.

    2) The poor chap is raking in under 300K for being the best ****ing fighter on the planet. Let him try to set a precedent, money-wise, against Estrada.

He, and everybody else, is ducking Amnat Ruenroueng, though.

Are the WBA ever going to enforce a mandatory on Estrada? Ditto the WBC and Gonzalez?

I'd love to see it, obviously, and have craved a while for it... But I don't blame Roman for wanting market value for the fight at all. It's not as though he has taken soft touches by any means, ha. I'm not sure what Estrada has ever said or done about wanting or making a potential rematch that makes Roman ducking him. Either way it'd be great to see but Roman has been shredding it either way and Estrada is doing his thing, also very well, so no need to be that disappointed. Their fight happened and was a great one too.

Considering how good the guys they are fighting anyway, I don't think that is necessary. Both guys have been fighting the best guys in their division even without mandatories and amassing two very impressive resumes.

Well, there's this article from November that says they want to fight him in mid-2016.

“(Donnie) Nietes isn’t going to give much of a challenge, but if he wants to and the money’s right, we’ll go for him,”said Blandon, responding to rumors that fight could be next. “A defense will be next, just to build up the hype, and then probably El Gallo (Juan Francisco Estrada) mid-year. But we want to build it up a little. HBO, for sure.”
    http://boxingjunkie.usatoday.com/2015/11/11/roman-gonzalez-juan-francisco-estrada-rematch-hbo/

And here is what he said in May after beating Sosa:

“I want to fight [unified flyweight titleholder] Juan Estrada next,” Gonzalez said to ESPN.com. “I want to fight him as soon as possible, and hopefully on HBO and in the United States.”

And it does look like there is interest from Estrada's side. However, Roman did just raise his price from 1 million to 2 million dollars.

I totally get it. And I'm a fan of Choco and Gallo. But it doesn't look good when you DOUBLE your monetary request BEFORE any negotiations has even started. Seems preemptive to me. Gallo's the only guy who's never wilted under Choco's blistering attacks. On top of that, Gallo gave Choco hell.
