I think its odd to agree that Winky is definitely a HOFer and and probably one
of the 5 best Jr Middleweights of all time but not an ATG. Still, i voted NO myself. I think he held back too much in certain fights.

not to mention that Hopkins was also past his best, and past his best weight.

What if he beat Pavlik to gain the Middleweight Title, then made a couple defenses. Would he be considered an ATG then?

If(when) he wins, he'll make it based less resume and more on dominance and skill-level. As of now, not quite.

That's unjustifiable the way I see it.

Yeah, Toney ranks higher due to his success in a wider range of weight classes. I'd consider him a low-end ATG, not one of the higher ranking ones from recent vintage such as Jones, Hopkins, Hagler, and Monzon.

Plus he beat the better opponents in my opinion. Nunn was better than Mosley and McCallum was better at 160 than Trinidad. The Jirov, Holyfield, Barkley, Williams, and Johnson wins help his case too.

I think Winky would be great in any era of boxing. I see him being avoided like the plague during his career. He beat Hopkins easily and I think if given the chance he could beat Mayweather and DLH. I would also like to see a rematch with Taylor and possibly a fight with Pavlik. I don't think Pavlik would be dumb enough to fight Winky and Top Rank wouldn't like it at all.

Yeah Winky is an all time great

He from the same mold as Pernell Whitaker

I still don't believe that DLH offered Winky a fight. I don't care if i see 100 articles or 100 interviews with parties involved. There was no way in hell DLH was going to get in the ring with Winky at 154 during Winky's prime. No one in our era beats Winky at 154.

    Depends on what criteria.

Defensively, he is one of the best 10-20 ever. His jab is also in that same breath. His resume is very good, not great. He is one of the best 154lbers ever. He never ducked a fight.

With 2 more big names...Id say DEFINATELY. Without...I think he still sneaks in, somewhere between 90-100 seems right.

Its close, but if you ask me...Id say yeah.

What if Wink pulls a stunt and goes in there with Pavlik and beats him?
Wishful thinking on my part probably, he's gonna price himself out again anyway.
