he is a legend to people that don't know Boxing. The guy is a fraud. Handpicked fights, refused to fight the best he robbed the fans of some potentially great fights all because he was scared to fight the best. People claim he is a top 30 ATG. Compare his resume to other fighters ranked that high. It is abysmal.

If he's not a legend then what are your standards for one? Jeez, had a gold medal taken away from him via dodgy officiating and went on to become a 4-weight world champion. Beat some fantastic names on his way and became the first guy to win the HW title after moving up from MW in over 100 years! That is a legend in my eyes. You guys are so tough over there on your champions it's unreal!

However, he does continue to taint his legacy by fighting on. Retire, RJJ- you deserve it.

Well, all anyone can ask is that you be the best in your own time, you actually cant be any more than that... RJJ was so I would go with `legend`

He's a legend, no doubt. 4 division champ, practically unbeaten for nearly 15 years, unless you want to include the Griffin DQ loss, which I dont. The guy was something special in his prime, which lasted for probably a decade, practically unbeatable in that time period.

If Roy Jones isn't a legend of the sport, then I don't know who is.

Legend! No doubt. Unfortunately I feel he's hurting his legacy by fighting past his expiration date. But no one can deny what Jones Jr was capable of when he was at his PEAK. Just amazing. Wasn't a greatly skilled fighter! But he was an incredibly talented athlete with amazing speed and reflexes that I don't think anyone has matched in this sport.

A good fighter who had his way with overmatched firefighters, teachers and sub-par cherrypicked opponents... But no legend. A legend is someone like Ali, Robinson, Leonard, Hearns, who fought the best of their era and gave their fans memorable fights. This guy failed the first time he decided to fight a Top opponent like Tarver... and got beaten badly by a good tough opponent like Johnson... the types he always avoided. Sorry, no legend status for him.

Since prime Jones is a head to head nightmare for pretty much everyone who has ever fought between 160 and 175 with the possible exception of SRR, I'd say legend.

You are embarrassing us Marquez fans with this lamentable posting. Either change your avatar or start talking sense, either one will do.

Just about everyone was overmatched with Roy in his prime. Not skill wise but in every other department that had to do with physical gifts. Nard, JT, Hill...were all PRIME when he beat them and ALL had more technically sound skills than Roy....Roy was just on anther level as a gifted athlete and supremely talented. He's not the best ever but in our time he's one of the very best without question.
