    compare his resume to other legit legends and get back to me. His resume doesn't hold up against the people he is compared to. Roy refused to take on all comers real legends don't do that.

    Definitely a legend, shouldn't be questioned.

    Is RJJ a legend!?!? Absolutely! People point to his resume and not fighting the best, yet conveniently forget he fought and totally outclassed James Toney and took Hopkins apart with his speed, timing and accuracy. They also forget just how dominant he was pre 175lb days and that he pretty much knocked out everyone he fought and barely lost a round in that time to some solid oposition.

    Y'all musta forgot! (Sorry, was too easy!)

    Anyone that thinks Roy is not a legend is simply a blind hater and were probably too young or oblivious (ie only started watching boxing recently) to remember seeing his prime days. If not for the SRR, SRL, Ali's, Tyson's and RJJ's of this world, boxing would not be half as popular today, I dont care what anyone says, because at the end of the day he was hugely entertaining to watch and had such grace in the ring as well as the ability to deliver breath taking KO's

    almost anyone's resume can be disected though, take Lennox Lewis for example, one of the best heavyweights full stop... but if you want to get into it one can argue all his notable wins against big name fighters came at the end of their careers when they were in mild to serious decline. Do I think that? Yes. Do i think he's not a legend though? No, because he still beat who was in front of him and more often than not did it without and sense of doubting the result after the fight.

    Fair point, but paper is paper and tape of Roy doesn't lie.

    "Good fighters" don't do what Roy did to Hopkins, Toney, or even someone like Reggie Johnson.

    The difference is Lennox did fight those fights. Roy refused to.

    Roy didn't refuse....there were just no one in the LHW division at the time of his PEAK to really test him. And the best in his division all failed to win a round, let alone the fight. He took on very good and a few GREATS and he won everthing. He's a legend in boxing for how he performed and DOMINATED, not really how deep his resume was. He's like Floyd Mayweather in that regard.

    So by that logic you give Calzaghe credit for the Hopkins and Jones Jr wins?

    weak ass argument

    It shouldn't to be honest. His sheer DOMINANCE for YEARS in the divison he called home is stuff of legends. Now....it wasn't a RICH division over flowing with talent and deep comp. But that wasn't his fault. Floyd and Roy don't have the BEST resumes but they are surely GREATS! Based on thier ability, talent, skills and DOMINATION of who they faught. Very GOOD fighters were made to look average and the few greats they beat were made to look only GOOD during their primes....Jones specifically.

    Lennox Lewis made those fights in his career. That is more than Roy did because he flat out REFUSED to take risks. That is what I am talking about.

    Calzaghe made the fights I don't care how old his opponents were. That is more than Jones did.

    So you are telling me it is WORSE for a guy to actually fight who is out there than to not fight them at all?

    :lol::rofl:patsch
