Is Roy Jones Jr. the best H2H fighter ever in his weight range?

I personally can't think of anybody that I'd favour over more fighters than a peak Jones. Pernell Whitaker comes in close for 135-140.

He very well could be. I only favor Monzon at his peak to beat Roy at 160, no one to beat him at 168, and only about 5-6 fighters at 175.

I respect your pick of Monzon, but I don't know how he'd adapt to the speed, I assume you're looking for a crushing, well timed KO punch here.

Who do you have over him at 175? I'll take Moorer, Foster and M. Spinks, Spinks only a slight favourite.

I think Monzon could set up a big KO in the later rounds with his long, powerful, and accurate jab. That jab would give Roy fits and not many do.

At 175 the 3 you mentioned along with Moore, and Charles. Tunney is kind of iffy with me, he is a top 3 all time LHW but Jones would give him trouble with the speed so I favor Jones. Qwai would make Roy go to war, this would have been a very dangerous fight for Jones. Dwight's defense could embarass Roy a bit and lead him into trading which Roy does not want to do but I think he grabs the decision.

I voted yes, but with an honorable mention of Pryor at light welter. Hard to not mention Whitaker though too.....

I've always thought Roy Jones Jr and Ricardo Lopez are the two H2H best in their weight ranges.

Whitaker is a great mention as well. How about Duran or Pryor from 135-140?

Haha I forgot about Duran in my post above,,,,but we can't have 3 guys that are unbeatable from the same weight class! A tough one indeed....

What do you mean by best head 2 head at his weight range. Are you talking about all of them?

Well here it is if you are.

At 160, he is up there, not in the top five, but in the top 10

At 168, he is number 1

At 175 he is in the top 3

    Pernell Whitaker at 135

    Finito at 105

Roy was amazing, but was beatable...barely...but beatable.

    Everyone is beatable.

But on any given night, I would favour Roy over anyone at 168 and also at 175.
