I'm watching the replay of him and Tito and he is still very fast even though he is nothing like he was in his prime. I can't think of anyone I've ever seen faster than a prime Roy. Can you?
You're just saying that because he's not American. Haven't you seen the video of Joe throwing 40 punches in 3 seconds?:nut
I've seen that video and I can confirm that 35 of the blows were slaps, so it doesn't count. Jones certainly has the fastest hands I've ever seen...prime Jones I mean.
Pound for pound up to light heavy? Hell yeah. His speed was at a welterweights level. Never seen fighter as fast as Jones before, and doubt we'll see another soon, if ever.
Yes, Jones is the fastest fighter I've ever seen. Including Meldrick Taylor, Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Floyd Patterson, Joe Calzaghe, Ray Leonard, etc. Camacho at 130 was at least as fast with his hands though. His ring movement, although fast, wasn't as fluid as Jones's.
Roy's handspeed was great, but it was his reflexes that were the quickest I've ever seen in a ring. Just impossible to land cleanly on that guy.. that's why he always got away with the lazy technique/defense, always keepin his left hand too low, etc.. You throw one jab at him, and in that split second, he dodges your jab, and retaliates with a quick 3 hook combo before you even realized you've missed your jab!
