Joe Louis wasn't in the same league as Jones. Certainly nowhere near as consistent with his handspeed as Jones, thats for sure. Louis' orthodox style probably makes his speed look slower than it actually is, as techinque can be deceptive. Louis was straight up and down, precise, and very orthodox in terms of delivery. Probably underrated, but still couldn't hold a candle to Jones.
I never put a HW in a p4p catagory .Unless he moved up and down in weight I never saw a reason to list them ..
Thats why p4p is so difficult to judge. Alot of it is opinion and can be difficult to see but it doesn't seem that we'll ever know.
I always thought it was inteneded for those fighters who had all the intagnibles while moving up in weight ..A heavy always stays in 1 weight class ..
In my opinion, it tends to be much easier to rank fighters p4p when they change weight classes but heavyweights can be ranked. Tyson was top of the list when he reigned and some others as well.
If you can list Tyson I would have to rank LL and Holy they fought everybody ..Tyson was just dominant ..But I do think P4P was intended more so for the smaller men ..
