Hell, 10 years ago, Roy was talking that incoherent dialect of his as an HBO commentator. One telling quote from Roy during the Reggie Johnson-William Guthrie fight was as follows: "Johnson has knocked a swoll on Guthrie's head. He's got a big ol swoll up there." And he'd barely taken a punch in his career up to that point. Can't blame it on punchiness.
I shouldn't say ****** that not right, but that hyped up southern twang makes him look stupid (although I know he is not). He was a good commentator who was articulate so I just think when is being interviewed he should conduct himself as a professional and speak clearly. He is suppose to be an ambassador to the sport right, what if Jordan or jeter spoke like that?
I guess you did buddy. Besides DLH the most famous active boxer to the general sports fan is RJJ. Therefore he represents the sport more than most other fighters and should conduct himself like a professional. I think a lot of times a sport thrives depending on the most famous guys who represent it. Ali and leonard were the most popular so boxing was huge, Jordan made the NBA huge, etc. As a result, i just believe that as a professional Roy should clearly express himself like he is capable of, its just my opinion.
You try to make fires where there are none by calling me a racist. He obviously was hired by HBO because he is smart and articulate, you dont give that position to an idiot. Again, I can understand him fine even as a New Englander, but its the fact he doesnt act with the same professionalism as he did as a commentator. If you dont agree thats fine, but labeling a racist or bigot is completely uncalled for.
