Here everyone a link on boxrec of Marco Antonio Rubio. His last fight against Wilson Santana is in SMW and he is listed as a SMW now. Rubio was suppose to fight David Lemieux at 160 to be the mandatory of the WBC. Thoughts? http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=116364&cat=boxer
Who the hell cares what Box Rec rankings say? Box Rec is a good place to gather basic information, but their rankings are useless.
Rubio can make a nice payday and put himself into position for a title fight by facing Lemieux. It looks like one of the better oppurtunities for Rubio, I don't see a lot of big paydays and title oppurtunities for him elsewhere, unless Felix Sturm comes knocking. Besides, if he loses to Lemiuex he can always go back on the Mexican circuit and work his way into a title position all over again.
Rubio's team and Lemieux team were already in discussion for the fight but can't agree on the location , it will go in purse bid on January 7th if i'm correct but i think the delay it at the end of the month but i don't remember the correct date. But there in discussion so i'm pretty sure the fight will happens in April!
They pushed the purse bid to the end of the month?! WTF?? No way in hell Rubio's promoter brings enough money to the table to top GYM's offer, which will be based on numbers they got in the past for Fast & Furious events + the fact this is a title eliminator for Lemieux. They'll see anywhere between 6 and 10K people at the Bell Centre for the fight, where as 6K people is probably around the best figure the Mexicans can come up with for a guy like Rubio. David is not used to the idea of waiting 4-5 months before fighting again.
No he wants to fight David as he should but he is not the man to test the youngster he will get knocked out violently
Like i said i'm not sure about it! i'm reading too much things about boxing that i could mix things! :nut
Lemieux is a very promising prospect, but he will have his hands full with Rubio, at least until he lands the career threating ko punch. Rubio just took a warm up match, don't sweat it.
