Is Russell Brand a good enough tune-up for Ward, before the Krusher?

This thread is about him prepping for the most difficult fight of his career not some middleweight you don't like. What is funny as when I said GGG wanting several acclimatising fights at the weight above if he were taking on a p4p rated guy after was acceptable you claimed that would constitute a duck. I now see, you think that's ok for Ward. And you wonder why people think you're a joke.

To get back on topic I'm personally surprised Ward didn't want someone bigger as prep but it's his career.

Ward is a joke, who knows if Kov fight will happen? Basically he's using Kov's name to get credit for fighting Brand.
It's nonsense, Kov wanted to fight Stevenson in June then Ward.

Ward goes for a 40 year old nobody.

lil'shook is losing a personal battle with envy. He can't stand that people like GGG. He is obsessed that people might think GGG is great, and for some reason it consumes him.

He must be suffering from rejection.

    Very true.

Smith was a natural 160lber and isn't top 5 in the UK.

    Barrera was a legitimate fight.

    Brand is a 40yo career 168lb fighter.

I'm surprised aswell that they haven't opted for another legitimate light heavyweight.

It's almost as if he's not prepping for Kovalev at all. Now, I'm not going to claim that he's looking to avoid that fight but if he pulls out of the fight - for any reason at all - taking pointless fights like this to get ready are going to look mighty suspicious.

Ward is a boxing genius. This tune up is not for him to hone his skills, but rather for him to get his rounds in, see how feels at the new weight, and how well his body responds after so much time spent outside the ring. It could have been any fighter, as long as he could take Ward all the way to the 12th. He knows conditioning will play a huge role in Kovalev's fight, and that is his primary goal.

I'm not sure who you're referring to but I for one will be well ****ed off if that fight doesn't happen. Its not very often we get two very different elite talents in the same weight category seemingly ready to clash.

Up until recently I was leaning towards Ward but am now seeing this as a total 50/50.

    hold on a sec

first off...you wanna say lil g needed more fight to acclimate to 168 first....i wonder why he doesnt need them for froch and chavez....youll prob say "well ward is better"...ok...fair enough...im fine with that

but how come when i mention how ward sent an email in 2015 that was rejected with "maybe in 2017 it might be possible", leaving all of 2016 open possibly, i get hit with "well ward needed tuneups"???

so who needed them? you guys say ward needed them....but then say lil g probably needed them

lil g could have fought lemieux...and smith could have been wards "tuneup" and they could have met in april or march of 2016

but apparently it was lil g who needed the tuneups...but how many did he need? all of 2016? "maybe 2017 is possible"?

ward is taking tuneups because hes doing lil and hbo a favor.....and hes taking a heck of a tough fight...both ward and kovalev are taking a major risk here...and they are both milking out some decent paydays in the process...not to mention ward is moving to a new class fully and is shaking rust off...and trying to make up for 2 years of being off financially

when lil g "fights zurdo" how many tuneups will he need first?....lil g has been active enough that he shouldnt warrant a years worth of tuneups for ward

ward always planned to have 4 tune ups so GGG had to wait for him to fight 4 times?

He just came out of a lay of and he himself said he wanted couple fights before the big fight with GGG or kovalev

so no ward would not of fought him in 2015 or 2016
