Obviously Ryder is an underdog, but people are acting like this fight is a mismatch and that he's some crappy C-tier fighter. Ryder has been pretty impressive in almost every fight he's been in, including the ones he lost against top tier competition. Do you think he's being too underrated here, or is it appropriate given how dominant Canelo is?
Ryder is as live and game as they come but he'll come unstuck against Canelo unfortunately. Fantastic professional and he's put together some good wins of late (arguably should already be world champion as well) so if anyone deserves an opportunity like this it's a good honest hard working pro like John Ryder. So best of luck to him I hope he some how pulls off the performance of a lifetime but he's right up against it.
I'm happy for Ryder to get this payday, but he isn't on Canelo's level. He is a world level guy who will give 99% of the world a very rough night. Like him or hate him, Canelo is elite, Ryder isn't.
I really hope that Ryder does well here, if he can win moments of the fight on the inside then he can have success.
The problem with Ryder is that stylistically he's the sort of fighter Canelo likes. He likes come forward guys that aren't too fast, that he can counter and showcase his skills against. Ryder does have a heart and chin and stamina, but he's gonna have to walk through fire to make those count.
Definitely. Whether he can win or not is besides the point. He;s a top fighter in the division without a doubt but people act like this is Charlo (a champion) fighting Juan Macias Montiel (a nobody). It’s very odd how people exaggerate how supposedly terrible Canelo’s opponents are, but it’s not something new, they acted the same with Bivol.
Canelo is no charlo. If people like me are acting as if this is charlo fighting juan macias montiel (a nobody) it is becasue the difference between canelo and ryder is the same at least. Ryder has NOTHING special that can bother canelo. Nothing. He only brings stamina and chin to the table. A nice recipe to end up in the hospital. He doesn't have enough power, he doesn't have enough speed, his feet are not good enough (and on top of that he only uses them to go forward, he just can't fight on the back foot), his IQ is average.... He wins his fights with workrate and heart. Ok, anyone can see how it will end. Were he orthodox he could have gotten some profit from canelo's surgery in his left hand, but being southpaw he cant, because canelo's right hand is in perfect shape. And if all of that is not enough, they fight in Jalisco, in México, in Canelo's backyard. You have to be crazy to put your money on Ryder.
I dont think so. His style is just what Canelo needs to look good, after about 3 rounds it will start to become one sided and Canelo will start ripping those body shots and combinations up top and it will only be a matter of time after that.
He’s a top SMW. How he matches up with Canelo is irrelevant to me, unless he was a spoiler. Plant brought nothing to the Canelo fight in my eyes. No stamina, no power, not fast and his footwork doesn’t last. But he had a belt, so it made sense. Ryder is a top SMW, so it makes sense.t The bold is ironically all I see Benavidez bringing to a Canelo fight.
People just want to crap on this fight Because they like crapping on Canelo & they want to see him fight Benevidez - so it’s sour grapes.
First rule of Fight Club: You never underestimate a Brit Especially one who hails from my neck of the woods because we're an altogether different species of wolf to your regular British wolf Juan Ryder has been robbed more times than a bank with no security He's the anti-Clenelo in that regard And he has never lost to a ginger man before, whether it be by hook or crook
