Oh give up.. I love posts like this.. they're so disingenuous.. to assess all those names properly you'd have to spend weeks & weeks of watching there fights.. you'd have no life! I bet you've barely watched a single fight for most of those on that list.. I suspect many of them barely have more than a handful of fights on film anyway! So Where do you get this ****? You probably just google searched a top 50 LHWs list lol

I mean come on.. how many fights of Philadelphia jack o brien have u watched?? LOL a guy who was born in Victorian times, fought with straw gloves & fought when sports, gambling & the underworld went hand in hand.. corruption was rife! Let alone half of these guys he fought have only parts of there resumes listed due to lack of records at the time..

It's all second hand info you'd have to go off a lot of the time..

I've watched some of these old timers fight & have a fairly sound idea of what I'm watching.. & some look totally archaic technically! It's all just opinion but I believe technically & combined with his physical attributes Kovalev could stack up in any era.. but maybe I'm wrong.. I just don't have the time to study the minutiae of every era.. not many do!

How is Ward clearly an ATG but Kovalev is only "arguably" HOF? He's by far the best win on his resume and was the man at 175 for years reclaiming the title twice since his first reign ended. He's easily one of the most accomplished 175ers of the last 50 years so he's CLEARLY a HOF with a VERY good case for being an ATG.

If he beats canelo i would put him in the hof but that wouldn't make him an atg.

Not only two h2h wins but Ward's resume and accomplishments dwarf that of kovalev are you serious? Froch alone is light years better than anyone kovalev beat. Like i said earlier if he beats canelo he should be in the hof. Ward had one of the best resumes in boxing when he was active he was damn good.

The reason why so many people are saying Kovalev is ATG is because they think he beat Andre Ward. Obviously not on the official cards, but you know what I mean.

If he's loses to Clenelo it's because he's totally shot. It has no barring on his legacy win or lose. Clenelo is not a Light-Heavyweight fighter. Totally ridiculous statement to suggest that he needs that win to be considered HOF worthy lol... Especially with the abysmally low modern standard.

It was a close fight but he didnt beat ward and gets no credit for it. With that said i know what you mean. Who's his best win?

Kovalev isnt prime but he's not shot and if he loses it's because he lost to a better man. Canelo is coming up in weight to 175 and will probably be the underdog in the fight like he was against ggg.

I thought it was a robbery. I give credit for robberies. And clearly so do many others. You cannot give Ward the 10th round. He needed the 10th round otherwise he loses.

So I class him as an ATG.

If he had gotten the official nod you would have said he's an ATG, but because he was robbed (you can't give Ward the 10th round) you say he's not ATG???

His best win is Ward, but that's not an official win? Well I count robberies as official wins. I count Whitaker's draw with Chavez as a win. I count DLH's 2nd fight with Mosley as a win for DLH.

If Kovalev is not at least HOF then Ward is not an ATG. He beat Kessler who lost to Calzaghe so then by your logic he's not very good and Kessler shouldn't get any credit. And his best win is Froch, who best win is a past prime Kessler. So all they did was beat each other. Any 2 fighters could beat each other right?

So then is Ward really any good?

I guess Pernell Whitaker is just an ok fighter. What's his best win? A blown up shot tiny Featherweight named Azumah Nelson? This guy even lost to Jose Ramirez.

He never beat Chavez. Only got a draw. Then he lost to DLH, close fight and he was way over the hill, but should get no credit because he lost.

Hey, but at least he beat Buddy McGirt.

A close fight that can go either way isnt a robbery people need to stop with that nonsense. A robbery is pea-jcc rjj in the Olympics kovalev-ward doesn't fit that description. Ward cleaned out a division in grand fashion kovalev never did that nor did he move up in weight. You cant give kovalev credit for none wins it doesnt work like that. Should we do what ifs for every fighter who ever fought a close fight when rating them?

It wasn't a close fight. That's the difference.
